من بين الرفوف

نسلط الضوء على أحد الكتب في مكتبة عمّان الصغرى، والشمس إلا أنها لا تدور، رواية شعرية تبحر في ملكوت الفقدان، من إنتاج الفنانة السورية جمانة عزّام والتي عملت على إصداره خلال برنامج الإقامة في الاستوديو لعام ٢٠٢٥.

يتناول الكتاب رحلة بين المشرق والمغرب، بين فانكوفر ونهر العاصي، بحثا عن وجه اختفى واستقصاء لآخر توارى، في تجسيد لثنائية الحزن والفقدان، حيث تنزف عين الوردة أسىً، وتمرض الشمس ويتساقط شعرها في الفضاء الغيهبي، وتظهر الصورة كنعش أو كعرش يحمل ما تبقى من شظايا الصورة الفُحلقية، في محاولة للانفطام عن دموع رمش الفاجعة.

"والشمس إلا أنها لا تدور" متوفر للشراء في مكتبة عمّان الصغرى، كما بإمكانكم الانضمام لعضوية المكتبة للإطلاع على مجموعة واسعة من الكتب المختارة والاستفادة من نظام الاستعارة.

اقتراحات زملائنا في برنامج إقامة الكتابة (من مساكنهم) لبعض الكتب من مقتنيات مكتبة عمّان الصغرى.

وكان اقتراح الزميل محمد عبدالكريم هو: «الجحيم الاصطناعي» لـ كلير بيشوب. كما قام منذ أربع سنوات بترجمة جزء من الكتاب. رابط الترجمة في البايو.

يقول محمد عبدالكريم: يركز كتاب كلير بيشوب من خلال مقتطفات من تاريخ الحركات الطليعية على الفن التشاركي، وتدّعي الكاتبه انها تستعرض نقاط سلبية وايجابية من خلال تاريخ الفن التشاركي «Participatory Art» وتركز على ثلاث حركات فنية تاريخية توقعت و استشرفت لظهور ممارسات فنية تعتمد على المشاركة والعمل الجماعي.

محمد عبدالكريم (1983)، یعیش ويعمل في القاهرة. يبحث كيف أن الإيماءات الأدائية - مثل الإلقاء والغناء والرقص والتعقّب والقيام بالأفعال - هي محسوسة وتدمج القصص الشخصيّة بالأحداث التاريخيّة، لتصنع سلسلة غير خطيّة وغير متوقعة من الصدامات.

Fellows from our writers in residence (their own) program have recommended a few books from the lesser amman library’s collection.

Resident Mohamed Abdelkarim recommended: Artificial Hells: Participatory Art and the Politics of Spectatorship. Four years ago, he translated part of the book in arabic. Translation link in bio.

Abdelkarim writes: Claire Bishop looks at participatory art through the history of avant-garde movements. Bishop scrutinizes it’s potential by focusing on three artistic and historical movements that anticipated the emergence of artistic practices that depend on participation and collectivity.

Mohamed Abdelkarim (b. 1983) examines how performative gestures such as narrating, singing, dancing, detecting and doing are perceived.

Books are available for lending every Sunday and Wednesday between 4-6pm.

“Writers-in-Residence (their own)” offers writers the head space, slow time and resources to be able to continue researching, producing and developing new or existing creative writing projects for a four-week home-based residency. Writers will receive mentorship with writer and curator Sarah Rifky. Fellows will each receive a stipend, allowing them to focus on their writing while safely socially distancing at home.

We miss you and hope that you have all been safe. The library is happy to announce that it will begin its lending system starting next week, 7, June 2020! We will be operating (as a pick-up and drop-off site) on Sundays and Wednesday between 4pm - 6pm. Come by and pick up your favourite books!

Please note that lending is available to those who are signed up as members of the library. If you wish to subscribe, please bring along a 15jd deposit.

نظرا للأوضاع الراهنة، لن تعمل المكتبة كمساحة عمل، لكن سنستمر فقط بإعارة الكتب كموقع استلام وتسليم، حيث لن يكون التصفح ممكنًا في الوقت الحالي.
ستُطبّق قواعد المباعدة الاجتماعية. في حال وجود شخص ما قبلك؛ يرجى الانتظار، وترك مسافة 1.5 متر على الأقل بينكما.
سيتم تعقيم جميع الكتب المستردة، وتركها في صندوق لمدة 72 ساعة على الأقل قبل التعامل معها مرة أخرى. لطفًا، يرجى منكم عدم تعقيم الكتب بأنفسكم، لتجنّب تلفها.



Please take the following into consideration:
The library will not be operating as a work space but will continue lending books as pick-up and drop-off only, browsing will not be possible at this time.
We will be enforcing social distancing rules. If someone has arrived before you, please wait, leaving at least 1.5 meters between you.
All books received will be placed in a box and sterilized for at least 72 hours before handled again. Please do not take it upon yourself to sanitize the books as paper is a sensitive material that may deteriorate.

While writing has always entailed some degree of isolation, enforced social distancing in the time of Covid-19 can be difficult. In light of this, the MMAG Foundation’s lesser amman library would like to offer writers the head space, slow time and resources to be able to continue researching, producing and developing new or existing creative writing projects for a four-week home-based residency. Fellows will each receive a stipend of $500, allowing them to focus on their writing while safely socially distancing at home

The application deadline is Thursday, April 17, 2020, 5 pm (GMT+3)

سنقوم خلال الأسبوعين القادمين بإتاحة تمرينات كتابة ورسم من كتاب بشكل يومي، ونحب منكم مشاركة أعمالكم عن طريق استخدام هاشتاج ووسم Lesser Amman Library مكتبة عمان الصغرى. ستكون النسخ متوفرة في مكتبة عمان الصغرى حين عودتنا.

تتقدم هذه المطبوعة بسلسلة من تمرينات الكتابة والرسم. كتبها كل من توماس أمويال وسارة الكامل وشارلوت يورك في إحدى جزر اليونان في 2018، بعد مرور بضعة أشهر على Wonder Wander وهي مسيرة جماعية عبر الأردن قاموا بها كجزء من برنامج الإقامة الفنية جلسات الربيع. صممت المطبوعة تعاونية اباكي وترجمتها ياسمين زهدي ونشرتها دار دنت دي ليون وأنتجت بدعم من مؤسسة محمد وماهرة أبو غزالة.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing prompts from the book on a daily basis and would love it if you share your work using the hashtag and tagging Lesser Amman Library مكتبة عمان الصغرى. You can find copies at the lesser amman library as soon as we reopen.

This is a publication that proposes a series of writing and drawing prompts. Thomas Amouyal, Sara Farag Elkamel and Charlotte York wrote it on a Greek island in 2018, a few months after Wonder Wander, a collective walk across Jordan as part of the artist residency. It is designed by , translated by Yasmine Zohdi, published by and produced with the support of MMAG Foundation.

تبعًا لقرار الحكومة الأردنية حول تدابير الوقاية من فيروس كورونا COVID-19، وتبعًا لتوصيات وزارة الصحّة الأردنية، ستُغلق مؤسسة محمد وماهرة أبو غزالة أبوابها للعامّة مؤقتًا، وذلك بدايةً من يوم الإثنين الموافق ١٦ آذار ٢٠٢٠.

Following the Jordanian government’s decision on new measures to slow down the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, and in accordance to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the lesser amman library and the MMAG Foundation will be temporarily closed to the public.
We will be using this time to collect exciting literature to share with you all.
