The Municipality of Nueva Valencia, through its Municipal Tourism Office, officially opened BUGANA: Lokal nga Produkto Ipasundayag, a tourism products showcase featuring local products and the people behind them, through a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 21, 2026, at the Municipal Hall Lobby in Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
The activity, which forms part of the Bugal sang Turismo โ Guimaras 2026 Integrated Tourism Month Fair, highlights the work of local artists, artisans, and product-makers with the participation of 14 tourism stakeholders in the municipality. Participating stakeholders were also recognized with plaques and financial assistance from the LGU in support of local producers and their livelihoods.
In his welcome message, Mayor Emmanuel C. Galila emphasized the important role of local products, artisans, and product-makers in the municipalityโs tourism industry. He also underscored that strengthening tourism is a shared responsibility among the government, stakeholders, and the community, given its contribution to the local economy.
Meanwhile, Acting Provincial Tourism Officer Mr. Jaypee Kien G. Entredicho, who served as guest during the opening program, highlighted the province-wide Guimaras 360 tourism initiative, which seeks to spread the socioeconomic gains of tourism across the five municipalities. He explained that the province is expanding its tourism offerings beyond sun-and-beach destinations to include cultural, educational, and other tourism products, forming enhanced tourism circuits across Guimaras.
โIn Guimaras we do not compete, the five municipalities do not compete but we complement each other. So again, Bugal Sang Turismo is not only in the municipal government, it's not only in the Province of Guimaras. It is the stakeholders, the members of the big tourism umbrella of the tourism industry in the Province of Guimaras. This tourism month is celebrated with you and for you,โ Entredicho said, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among local governments and tourism stakeholders in strengthening the provinceโs tourism industry.
The opening program was attended by municipal officials and representatives from various municipal offices, tourism stakeholders, and guests. The four-day showcase, which will run from September 21-24, allows the public to view and purchase featured products, from 14 participating tourism stakeholders, with sales and income going directly to the respective exhibitors.
Through BUGANA, the municipality provides a venue to showcase the creativity, skills, and products of local makers while creating an opportunity for residents and visitors to support local enterprises and livelihoods.
