The Norwegian Embassy in Jordan was honored to join our valued partner, Forearms of Change Centre to Enable Community (FOCCEC), at the Amman Citadel to celebrate 15 years of service to Jordan's communities. 🎉

What began in 2012 as an independent, community-driven initiative has grown into an institution Norway is proud to support. By pairing health services at the Forearms Community Health Clinic with advocacy, FOCCEC reaches people who are too often excluded from mainstream systems.

Norway believes access to health care and services is a fundamental right, one that should never depend on a person's background, identity, or social status. Supporting vulnerable communities is an investment in the kind of society we all want to live in: one where rights are universal, not selective.

Norway is grateful to support FOCCEC through the three-year project "Rights in Action," which aims to improve access to integrated social and health services for vulnerable and marginalised communities across Jordan.

The stories shared by community members at the event were a powerful reminder that needs remain significant. We will continue to stand with FOCCEC and look forward to seeing our impact grow in the years ahead.

Meet the new Ambassador of Norway to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Iraq! 🇯🇴🇮🇶✨

Ambassador Løvold is a career diplomat and has served in the Norwegian foreign service since 2004. In addition to regional expertise on the Middle East 🌍, he also brings many years of experience from multilateral diplomacy (UN) and Afghanistan.

Among his assignments abroad he has been posted twice at the Mission of Norway to the UN in New York 🗽and he served three years at the Norwegian Embassy in Kabul early in his career. He also had a leave from the foreign service to work for the UN in Afghanistan (UNAMA). Ambassador Løvold was Deputy Director for Middle East and North Africa in MFA, 2017-2020 📋 and for several years engaged with coordinating international support to Palestinian state-building.

Prior to his current appointment, Løvold served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Norway to the UN in New York.

Ambassador Løvold arrives in Amman with a genuine passion for the region and a deep respect for Jordan as a close partner and for its role as a pillar of stability and hospitality in the Middle East 🤝🇯🇴. We're excited to welcome him to Amman and look forward to strengthening the warm ties between Norway and Jordan even further!

This week, the Norwegian Embassy in Jordan had the pleasure of meeting with Al Hayat Center for our annual meeting!

Established in 2006, Al Hayat Center is a leading Jordanian civil society organization working on democratic governance, civic participation, anti-corruption, and parliamentary monitoring.🏛️⚖️

Together, we're in year one of a three-year partnership on strengthening parliamentary accountability and inclusive dialogue in Jordan. Through this project we wish to support improved parliamentary transparency and accountability, as well as greater civic engagement and protection for women and marginalized groups in political life.👥

Thank you Amer Bani Amer and Amro Nawayseh for the insightful discussion, and for the results achieved this past year from parliamentary monitoring reports to capacity-building work with women parliamentarians and political actors.🤝

This work reflects values we hold dear in Norway - democracy, transparency, and inclusive political participation - and we look forward to continuing this important partnership having just entered year two🙏

On Saturday, the Ambassador had the pleasure of joining a girls' Football Festival at Al Hussein Sports City together with Samar Nassar, General Secretary of the Jordan Football Association! Over 160 girls aged 9–12 came together for a day of football, laughter and teamwork as part of the "Educating Female Leaders in Football" project run by the Jordanian and Norwegian football associations.

The project trains women to become coaches, instructors and club leaders, giving girls across Jordan safe, high-quality access to grassroots football, and building local, gender-equal football organisations along the way. It supports Jordan's national push for girls' football, including JFA's own 'Empower Her' initiative.

Seeing these girls play with such energy and confidence was truly inspiring! Huge congratulations to every player who received her diploma today, and a heartfelt thank you to the incredible women coaches leading by example as such important role models.

We are proud to share that Ambassador Andreas Løvold has formally presented his credentials to His Majesty King Abdullah II, officially beginning his tenure as Norway's Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The accreditation ceremony took place at the Royal Court, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the tombs of Their Late Majesties King Hussein Bin Talal, King Abdullah I, and King Talal Bin Abdullah.

The Ambassador sincerely appreciates the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended by the Royal Hashemite Court on this special occasion.

We are deeply touched by the many messages of condolence, friendship, and solidarity received following the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared their condolences and support during this time of national mourning. The kindness shown by friends and partners across Jordan, Iraq, and beyond has been a great comfort.

We wish to express our special appreciation to His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and to Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi and the Republic of Iraq, for their condolences and longstanding friendship. We deeply value the strong and enduring ties between our nations and highly appreciate the solidarity shown during this difficult time.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our diplomatic colleagues, fellow embassies, government representatives, partners, and friends who have stood with us as we honor the life, legacy, and service of His Majesty King Harald V.

Your friendship, solidarity, and support are sincerely appreciated.

A protocol book will be opened for signature at the Ambassador's Residence, located at 21 Abdul Majeed Edwan Street, Abdoun, from 12:00 to 15:00 on Sunday, 30 August; Monday, 31 August; and Tuesday, 1 September 2026, for those wishing to convey their condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.

In addition, an electronic Book of Condolences is available for those who wish to convey their condolences. Messages may be submitted through the Royal Court's electronic condolence protocol at Kongehuset.no.

A whole nation is in mourning.

‘It is with great sorrow that I received the news that His Majesty King Harald V has died.

A whole nation is in mourning and the people of Norway are left with a deep sense of gratitude for a long life in the service of Norway.

For more than three decades as monarch, Harald V demonstrated an unwavering faith in the Norwegian people. He helped us to see the best in ourselves – and in one another.

King Harald found the words to bind us together when we needed them the most. He grieved with us after the attacks 22 July 2011. He cheered with us when Norwegian athletes excelled. And he guided us, with warmth, wisdom and openness, towards a society with a place for everyone. King Harald had a profound love for Norway. And Norway had a profound love for King Harald.

My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the Queen and the entire Royal Family at this difficult time,’ said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on learning of the death of King Harald V.

King Harald V was born on 21 February 1937. He died at the age of 89.

The Government will be convening soon for a government conference at the Office of the Prime Minister, and after that an extraordinary meeting of the Council of State will be held at the Royal Palace with the new King.

This week, the Norwegian Embassy in Jordan visited the offices of the Forearms of Change Centre to Enable Community (FOCCEC) in Amman for our annual meeting.

FOCCEC is a Jordanian non-profit organisation established in 2012 to serve and meet the needs of vulnerable communities. Norway is grateful to support FOCCEC through the three-year project “Rights in Action,” which aims to improve access to integrated social and health services for vulnerable and marginalised communities across Jordan.

During our meeting, Director Abdallah Hanatleh and Project Manager Hanin Abu Murah presented the results and achievements from the past year. We were then given a tour of the Forearms Community Health Clinic, where much of FOCCEC’s important work takes place.

The Embassy is very pleased with our continued partnership with FOCCEC and proud of the achievements made so far. We were particularly pleased to enter into a three-year agreement last year, which we hope will provide greater financial stability and predictability and allow FOCCEC to continue building on its important work.

FOCCEC’s goals and approach strongly align with Norway’s core values of human dignity, equality and inclusion, which informs our belief in everyone’s right to healthcare, regardless of background or social status.

Thank you to Abdallah, Hanin and the entire FOCCEC team for the warm welcome and for your continued dedication to work on these important issues. We look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years ahead.
