TOKYO → ATAMI in as little as 35 minutes. 🚅🌊
Atami is one of the easiest seaside getaways to add to your Japan trip.
From Tokyo Station, take the Tokaido Shinkansen directly to Atami Station — no transfers required.
Which Shinkansen should you take?
🚅 Hikari
Tokyo → Atami: about 35 minutes
Shinagawa → Atami: about 29 minutes
The fastest option, but only selected Hikari services stop at Atami.
🚅 Kodama
Tokyo → Atami: about 45 minutes
Kodama trains stop at Atami more frequently, with services running roughly every 30 minutes, making them an easy option for most travelers.
So even if the Hikari timing doesn’t work for your trip, Atami is still only around 45 minutes from Tokyo by Kodama.
And once you arrive, there’s plenty to experience — from onsen and Geigi culture to fireworks, Sun Beach, nighttime experiences, and seasonal scenery.
VISIT ATAMI also highlights hot springs, ocean views, seasonal nature, and Japanese culture as some of the city’s core attractions.
35 MINUTES FROM TOKYO.
A WORLD AWAY.
