The Sawara Grand Festival Autumn Festival 2026 has come to an end! Thank you to everyone who came out and made this year a success!

I spent most of my time helping tourists find their way to the floats at Sawara Station this year, but not without managing to take some footage of the spectacle as well!

We hope you enjoyed your time here in Sawara if you managed to make it out this past weekend, and we hope to see you in July of next year at the Sawara Grand Festival Summer Festival 2027!!

The Sawara Grand Festival Autumn Festival of 2026 kicks off tomorrow!! Three days of non-stop celebration begin at 10:00 tomorrow morning!

The festival goes from 10:00 to 22:00 daily, with food stalls lining the streets of town! Experience the magic of centuries-old floats, festival music, and vibrant dance that celebrates the spirit of Edo Japan. It’s a cultural spectacle you won’t forget!

The annual Omigawa Shizen no Ie Festival will be held on Sunday October 18th from 10:00 to 15:00 (reception from 9:45)! Entry is free! Take your children and come enjoy activities and snacks in preparation for the Halloween season! Same as last year, I will be leading a craft experience geared towards children of Katori City, this time themed around Halloween instead of Thanksgiving!
Come out and enjoy a fun time with your children, and stop by my booth from the hours of 10:00 to 12:00 or 13:00 to 15:00 and make yourself a pumpkin decoration for the Halloween season (See the 4th slide for example).

毎年恒例の「夢・創造　自然の家祭り」が千葉県立水郷小見川青少年自然の家で、10月18日（日）10:00～15:00（受付9:45～）に開催されます！

ハロウィンの季節にぴったりな体験やお菓子を、ご家族で楽しんでみませんか？

昨年に引き続き、今年も私が香取市の子どもたち向けのクラフト体験を担当します！
昨年はアメリカのサンクスギビングがテーマでしたが、今年は「紙パンプキンクラフト」というハロウィンにちなんだクラフトです！🎃

私のブースでは、10:00～12:00、13:00～15:00の時間帯に、ハロウィンの季節に飾れるかぼちゃのデコレーションを作ることができます！（完成イメージは4枚目の写真をご覧ください。）

ぜひお子さんと一緒に遊びに来て、楽しい時間を過ごしてください！

The Sawara Grand Festival Autumn Festival 2026 will be getting underway in just 4 short weeks! Come out to Sawara in Katori City to see 14 massive festival floats parade around Sawara’s streets! As the floats are pulled around town, watch as each participating ward performs acrobatic feats like the iconic spinning of the floats “Nonoji-Mawashi,”all while navigating through the narrow roads of Sawara!

This festival is certified as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and is truly a sight to behold. This will be my second time at the autumn Festival, and I’m so excited to get to share the experience with those of you who can’t make it through photographs😁

Tomorrow (Saturday 9/12) the Cosmos Festival in the Yodaura region of Katori City begins! Due to inclement weather conditions, the scheduled performance of the Orlanda Music Troupe has been cancelled… I wanted everyone to have the chance to see/hear their music, so I went through my camera roll and stitched together some clips of their performances from April’s Katori Jingu Shrine Shikinen Jinkosai Festival. The music is also selected clips of their songs that I spliced together, so this is not *exactly* how their music goes, but I hope it provides a taste of the traditional sounds of Katori City!

The Cosmos Festival will be getting underway regardless of weather as of the present moment, so make sure to come out to Yodaura if you are able to get to the area! I posted an English version of the event flyer a few days ago, so definitely refer to that to see what sort of events will be happening at the Cosmos Festival throughout its duration!

September has finally come, which means it is almost the season of the cosmo flower here in Katori City! Known as the autumn sakura, these beautiful flowers range in color from white to pink to orange.

In Yodaura, nearby to Katori City’s Junikyo Station along the JR Kashima train line, witness a bloom of over 3 million cosmos!

There will be all sorts of events going on in Yodaura kicking off on September 12th with special performances by the Orlanda Band, whose music you might have heard in my posts back in April about the Katori City Jinkosai!!

Yodaura is a beautiful, nature-filled area, and if you really want to take in the scenery, I also recommend trying the nearby Junikyo Boat Ride (Tour of the Twelve Bridges)!
