🎉Our 27th Intergovernmental Meeting continues to inspire!

To wrap up Day 1, we're hosting a Poster and Networking Session under the theme "Climate Change and Variability and Disaster Risk Reduction".

At our second Interactive Session, nine Thai early career professionals (ECPs) present their research to judges for evaluation. The most outstanding poster presenter receives the Mitra Award for Global Change Research and the opportunity to present their work to APN member governments and research institutions.

Our work with ECPs doesn't end at our Meeting in Bangkok. Follow our social media for more opportunities geared towards ECPs, from workshops to grants.

🎉Our 27th Intergovernmental Meeting is underway!

After a morning of meetings, we're kicking off the afternoon with APN's 30th anniversary celebration.

Our first Interactive Session features a video introducing APN's origins and journey, remarks from our members and partner organisations and a moderated dialogue to reflect on APN's contributions to regional research collaboration.

But our anniversary festivities won't end at the Intergovernmental Meeting in Bangkok. Follow our social media for insights from our 30 years of supporting global change research in the Asia-Pacific region.

🎉Our 27th Intergovernmental Meeting kicks off TODAY in Bangkok, Thailand!

The Intergovernmental Meeting is where government officials, scientists and representatives across the Asia-Pacific region in our network convene to decide on the trajectory of APN for the next fiscal year.

Our members will decide on funding allocations for new projects and determine strategic steps for the future. The Meeting this year will also feature two interactive sessions, a celebration event for our 30th Anniversary and a poster networking session for early career professionals.

It'll be two exciting days dedicated to supporting science-policy linkages and cooperation for regional research.

🎉It's our 30th anniversary! To celebrate, we're highlighting how APN projects have reshaped our thinkings toward climate resilience throughout the past three decades.

🌊"Treat climate change as a challenge and not a threat," Ms Mereoni C. Bekanimoli, Field Archaelogist.

🌊Through his research in Fiji and Micronesia, Dr Patrick Nunn from Australia's University of the Sunshine Coast and his team found that adaptation varies depending on the peripherality of different communities.

🌊The big takeaway from the research gets at that core of adaptation. Climate change isn't an insurmountable threat to doomed communities. Rather, it is a challenge that societies can undertake with culturally-grounded knowledge that's already there.
