【A Local Favourite from Obi, Miyazaki! Discover the Simple and Delicious “Obi Senbei” ✨】
Have you ever heard of “Obi Senbei”, a traditional sweet treat from Obi, a historic castle town in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture? 😊
Made with ingredients such as glutinous rice flour and sugar, these traditional Japanese sweet rice crackers are known for their delicate sweetness, light texture and simple, comforting flavour. They pair perfectly with a cup of tea 🍵 and are a local speciality worth trying when visiting Obi!
This time, three of our staff members tried them ! 😋
👩🏻 Writer A: “I was surprised by the flavour from the very first bite! There's a lovely, subtle sweetness, and the more you chew, the more you can taste the natural flavour of the rice. The taste isn't overpowering, so you can really take your time and savour every bite♪”
🧑🏻🦱 Writer B: “They go perfectly with tea! The gentle sweetness doesn't overpower the natural flavour of the tea, making them a wonderful combination 🍵”
🧑🏻🦳 Writer C: “Unlike the rich, indulgent sweets we often see these days, Obi Senbei has a unique charm that comes from its simplicity. Sometimes, the simplest flavours are the most enjoyable! ✨”
Same treat, three different impressions! 😆
Obi Senbei is not only a lovely snack to enjoy while exploring the historic streets of Obi, but can also be found at selected souvenir shops and local speciality stores ✨
More than just a souvenir, it's a popular traditional treat that has long been enjoyed by local people 🍘
If you're visiting Miyazaki, be sure to give Obi Senbei a try!
