⚓ Last weekend, members from the Okinawa Chief's Mess spent the morning landscaping and cleaning the historic Desmond Doss Point at Hacksaw Ridge in Urasoe City, Okinawa. 🍃

The event gave chief petty officers the ability to connect with the local community by trimming grass, pulling weeds and collecting any trash, while learning about the historical significance of the Maeda Escarpment, known as Hacksaw Ridge, a region of the Urasoe Castle Ruins.

💪Fight through the Pain🌶

CFAO's security department recently held its non-lethal and hand-to-hand defense course onboard White Beach Naval Facility.

The course is required for security and auxiliary security force personnel, during which participants are sprayed with oleoresin capsicum, known as OC spray, and engage in multiple scenarios using non-lethal and hand-to-hand defense techniques in succession.

If you got your OC Certificate, how did you deal with the burn?🔥

🌊Happy Ombudsman Appreciation Day!⚓

September is Ombudsman Appreciation Month, and for the past 56 years, Navy ombudsmen have been a critical link between Sailors, families, and Navy leaders. Our ombudsmen are vital to the welfare of command families, and in this unique role, as officially appointed volunteers, their duties are wide-ranging.

Today, Sept. 14, U.S. Navy leaders across Okinawa gathered for an appreciation luncheon with the incredible U.S. Navy ombudsmen who support our Sailors and their families.

Thank you to all our ombudsmen, who volunteer their time and work tirelessly to improve command readiness and our families' resiliency!
