展覧会「Perhaps Silence（もしかしたら静寂）」オープニングイベント開催！🔊🌿🇨🇭🇯🇵

在大阪スイス領事館は、11月5日に展覧会のオープニングイベントを開催し、音や都市空間の関係を探ります。

本イベントでは、音響研究、建築史、社会学、クリエイティブ分野の専門家を迎え、パネルディスカッションを開催します。さらに、EPFLのLuca Pattaroni教授とのオンラインディスカッションも予定しています。

Jan Eckert博士がキュレーションを担当する本展では、スイスと日本の研究・創作活動を通じて、音や環境、そして私たちを取り巻く世界への新たな視点を提案します。

Join us for the opening of Perhaps Silence! 🔊🌿🇨🇭🇯🇵

On November 5, Swissnex in Japan invites you to explore sound and urban space. The opening evening will feature a panel discussion bringing together perspectives from acoustic research, architectural history, sociology and creative practice.

Together, the speakers will explore how listening can reveal overlooked relationships in the places we inhabit. The program also includes a live online conversation with Prof. Dr. Luca Pattaroni (EPFL).

Curated by Dr. Jan A. Eckert, the exhibition connects research and creative practices from Switzerland and Japan.

Happy Halloween🎃
今回もスイスからのちょっと不気味な研究🎃を紹介
アダムスファミリーやNetflix「Wednesday」にも登場するハンド。そんな”ハンド”を思わせるロボットがスイス連邦工科大学チューリッヒ校()で研究されています。

ETH博士課程所属のAmirhossein Kazemipour氏、Hehui Zheng氏、Robert Katzschmann教授らが開発したのは、5本の指を「脚」として使い、自分の力で移動できるロボットハンドです。人の手は、親指の位置やそれぞれの指の長さが異なるため、歩かせるのは簡単ではありません。しかし、シミュレーションを行うことで実験では草、砂利、アスファルトなどの１４種類の素材の上で移動することに成功しています。研究者のKazemipour氏は、Addams Familyのファンで、“Thing”も着想の一つだったと話してます。👻

見た目は少し不気味ですが、目指しているのは、ロボットの「手」を単なる道具から、自ら移動し、支え、操作できる独立したロボットへと進化させること。今後の発展が楽しみな研究です！

ハロウィンの準備は万端ですか？ 今回はスイスからのちょっと不気味な研究🎃を紹介します

皆さん、幽霊の気配を感じたことはありますか？
スイス連邦工科大学ローザンヌ校()認知脳科学研究室のOlaf Blanke教授らは、この不思議な感覚である「誰かの気配」を長年研究しています。

2014年、研究チームはロボットを使って、健康な参加者にこの感覚を実験的に再現することに成功しました。動画で紹介した実験方法で、「後ろに誰かがいる」ように感じる幻覚を生み出しています。この研究は現在ではパーキンソン病患者の幻覚のメカニズム、認知機能との関係を明らかにする研究へと発展しています。VR・デジタル技術を使って幻覚を定量的に捉える試みも進められています。

Ready for Halloween?🎃
This time, we’re introducing a slightly spooky research story from Switzerland. 
Have you ever felt a presence even though no one was there?
At the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience at EPFL, Prof. Olaf Blanke and his team have been studying this mysterious sensation for many years.

In 2014, the researchers successfully recreated this sensation experimentally in healthy participants using a robotic system. In the video, some participants experienced the illusion that “someone was standing behind them,” even though no one was actually there. ゲーミフィケーションが生み出す学びと交流🎲🤝

10月28日、在大阪スイス領事館では、ゲームの仕組みをチームビルディングや教育に応用するゲーミフィケーションのイベント「Game Night! Switzerland Meets Japan」を開催しました。

チューリッヒ応用科学大学の滞在研究者であるRoberto Siano氏が企画。ゲーミフィケーションの考え方や、企業・地域での活用事例を紹介した後、参加者は戦略や直感、少しの運も必要な4つのチームゲームに挑戦しました。スイスからNextStep Programで来日しているインターン生を含む、さまざまなバックグラウンドの参加者が、初対面でもゲームを通じて自然に交流し、チームで協力しながら楽しむ時間となりました。✨

Roberto氏は今回の日本滞在中、SEGA XDをはじめ、東京大学、東京国際工科専門職大学、京都大学、広島大学、立命館大学、国立高等専門学校機構、大阪電気通信大学の研究者らと意見交換を行い、日本におけるゲーミフィケーションやその文化的背景について理解を深めています。

Learning through play! – On October 28, the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka hosted “Game Night! Switzerland Meets Japan”, an event exploring gamification and how game elements can be applied to team building and education.

The event was organized by our sabbatical researcher Roberto Siano from Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). After introducing the concept of gamification and sharing examples of how it is used in companies and local communities, participants took on four team challenges involving strategy, intuition, and a little luck.

During his stay in Japan, Roberto Siano is exploring Japanese approaches to gamification through exchanges with SEGA XD and researchers from The University of Tokyo and International Professional University of Technology in Tokyo, Kyoto University, Hiroshima University, Ritsumeikan University, National Institute of Technology and Osaka Electro-Communication University.

スイス連邦教育・研究・イノベーション庁及び在日スイス大使館科学技術部と意見交換を実施しました 🇨🇭🤝🇯🇵

スイス連邦教育・研究・イノベーション庁のFrancesca Stocker博士と、在日スイス大使館科学技術部の皆さんを在大阪スイス領事館 in Japanにお迎えしました。

意見交換では、日本の研究・イノベーション環境をはじめ、国際科学会議や研究インフラ、スイスと日本のさらなる研究協力の可能性について話し合いました。

Francesca博士は今回、素粒子物理学や核融合研究に関する科学ミッションの一環で来日し、国内の主要研究機関を訪問するとともに、富山で開催された第14回ICFA Seminarにも参加予定です。

在大阪スイス領事館はスイスと日本の科学・研究・イノベーション分野でのつながりをさらに深めていきます。

Exchange with SERI and the Science & Technology Office at the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan 🇨🇭🤝🇯🇵

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Francesca Stocker from the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), together with colleagues from the Science & Technology Office Tokyo (STO) at the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, to the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka / Swissnex in Japan.

We exchanged perspectives on Japan’s research and innovation landscape, international scientific conferences, research infrastructure, and opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between Switzerland and Japan.

Francesca visited Japan as part of a scientific mission focused on particle physics and fusion research, including visits to major research institutions and participation in the 14th ICFA Seminar in Toyama.

We look forward to further strengthening connections between Switzerland and Japan in science, research, and innovation. 🇨🇭🇯🇵

文化の未来を形作るのは、誰でしょうか？ 🔊🌿🇨🇭🇯🇵

在大阪スイス領事館は、展覧会「Swissnex Window #15: Perhaps Silence（もしかしたら静寂）」を開催します。

人間だけでなく、動植物や微生物、そして新しい技術は、文化の創造にどのように関わっているのでしょうか？

本展では、写真、フィールドレコーディング（現地で録音した音）、音響生態学、機械学習を通して、都市の音風景や微生物の活動、空き地、新たな創作のかたちに目を向けます。人間だけが文化を生み出す存在なのかという問いを出発点に、文化の未来に広がる新たな可能性を探ります。

ヤン・アルベルト・エッカート博士がキュレーションを担当。スイスと日本の研究・創作活動をつなぎながら、人間以外の存在や新しい技術が文化の形成に果たす役割を考えます。

Swissnex in Japan presents Swissnex Window #15: Perhaps Silence, an exhibition exploring how humans, other species and emerging technologies participate in shaping culture.

Through photography, field recordings, sound ecology and machine learning, the exhibition explores urban soundscapes, microbial life, vacant spaces and new forms of creation. It invites us to rethink who – and what – creates culture, and imagine a future in which humans are no longer its only makers.

Curated by Dr. Jan A. Eckert, the exhibition connects research and creative practices from Switzerland and Japan, bringing together perspectives from science, art and technology.

生きた建築ミュージアムフェスティバル大阪2026(OPEN HOUSE OSAKA2026)が開催されました！🏙️🇨🇭🇯🇵 
OPEN HOUSE OSAKA2026は大阪の魅力ある建築を一斉に無料公開する日本最大級の建築イベントで、今年は最多の224の建築が参加しました。今年初参加の弊館はパネル展「スイス建築年鑑2025/26」を実施し、約800人の方に来場いただきました。

当日は一般社団法人生きた建築ミュージアム大阪代表理事の橋爪紳也氏にも訪問していただきました。来場の方には、スイスの建築の多様性やリノベーションについて触れていただくと共に、在大阪スイス領事館の活動を知っていただく貴重な機会となりました。

展示は10月29日まで、来場はお早めに！

OPEN HOUSE OSAKA 2026 has come to a close! 🏙️🇨🇭🇯🇵

OPEN HOUSE OSAKA is one of Japan’s largest architecture events, opening some of Osaka’s most fascinating buildings to the public free of charge. This year, a record 224 sites took part.

For our first participation, the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka presented the exhibition “Swiss Architecture Yearbook 2025/26,” welcoming around 800 visitors over the weekend.

We were also delighted to welcome Dr. Shinya Hashizume, Representative Director of Open House Osaka. The event offered visitors a valuable opportunity to discover the diversity of Swiss architecture and approaches to renovation, while also learning more about the activities of the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka.

The exhibition continues until October 29, so don’t miss your chance to visit!

イベントレポート！これからの建築環境を考える 🏙️🇨🇭🇯🇵

スイスと日本の視点から、これからの建築と建築環境について考えるトークイベントを開催しました。

10月22日、生きた建築ミュージアムフェスティバル大阪2026およびパネル展「スイス建築年鑑2025/26」の一貫として、社会・テクノロジー・サステナビリティの観点から、建築における新たなアプローチを探りました。

冒頭では、生きた建築ミュージアム大阪実行委員会委員長の橋爪紳也氏によるご挨拶をいただきました。その後のパネルディスカッションでは、京都大学講師の林和希氏がモデレーターを務め、スイス連邦工科大学チューリッヒ校（ETH Zurich）・京都工芸繊維大学のMatthias Vollmer博士、大阪大学の福田知弘教授、京都工芸繊維大学木内俊克特任准教授、テンプル大学吉田裕枝博士が登壇。イノベーションがこれからの建築や建築環境をどのように形づくるのか、スイスと日本の視点から意見を交わしました。

建築の未来や、これからの社会に求められる「意味のあるイノベーション」について考える貴重な機会となりました。

How can innovation shape the future of architecture? 🇨🇭🇯🇵

On October 22, we brought together Swiss and Japanese perspectives for a discussion on the future of architecture as part of Open House Osaka 2026 and the Swiss Architecture Yearbook 2025/26 exhibition.

The event opened with remarks by Dr. Shinya Hashizume, Chair of the Open House Osaka Executive Committee.

This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Kazuki Hayashi, Lecturer at Kyoto University, featuring Dr. Matthias Vollmer (ETH Zurich & Kyoto Institute of Technology), Prof. Dr. Tomohiro Fukuda (The University of Osaka), Prof. Dr. Toshikatsu Kiuchi (Kyoto Institute of Technology), and Prof. Dr. Hiroe Yoshida (Temple University Japan, Kyoto).

Drawing on perspectives from Switzerland and Japan, the panelists exchanged views on how innovation could shape the future of architecture and the built environment. The event offered an opportunity to exchange ideas and reflect on what meaningful innovation can look like in the built environment of tomorrow.

会場では、在大阪スイス領事館（Swissnex in Japan）の職員がスイスの高等教育や研究環境、留学の選択肢について紹介し、スイスに関心を持つ学生の皆さんと交流しました。

各国の国際機関などが集まり、海外留学や国際交流について考える機会となった今回のイベント。スイスで学ぶこと、研究することを将来の選択肢の一つとして興味を持っていただけました。

World Connection Fair in Kandai 2026🇨🇭🎓🇯🇵

The of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan joined the Kansai University World Connection Fair 2026 at University’s Senriyama Campus in Osaka.

The event brought together universities, diplomatic missions, and international organizations to introduce students to study abroad opportunities and encourage international exchange. Our team was delighted to engage with students interested in Switzerland, share insights into the Swiss higher education and research landscape, as well as explore opportunities for academic exchange between Switzerland and Japan.

We thank Kansai University for organizing this event and to all the students who stopped by for the inspirational conversations!

Joining Open House Osaka 2026 for the first time! 🏙️🇨🇭🇯🇵

The Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka / Swissnex in Japan is joining Open House Osaka 2026 for the first time, as one of 11 new locations in this year’s program.

At the kickoff event, our Art–Science Manager Leïla Joutet introduced our venue and connected with Osaka’s architecture community.

On October 24–25, we will open our doors to the public and invite visitors to discover our exhibition, “SAY Swiss Architecture Yearbook 2025/26,” featuring 34 projects from contemporary Swiss architecture. 🏛️✨
