Looking for a stunning fall foliage spot in Sapporo? 🍁

Just 30 minutes by car from downtown, the Hiraoka Greenery Center is an expansive 2.9-hectare park featuring roughly 700 maple trees across eight different varieties. Best of all, admission is free! 🤩
The park boasts both Japanese and Western-style gardens, letting you explore autumn scenes with two distinct vibes. ⛲
Don’t miss the breathtaking, 200-meter-long avenue lined with Nomura maples. From late October to early November, strikingly deep red leaves canopy the sky, creating a tunnel of autumn colors. 🍁

Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort Autumn Festival 🍂

🍁 Hosted annually in early-to-mid November
🍁 2026 dates: 1st - 20th October
🍁 Daily, 9:30~15:30 (last trip up the gondola at 15:00)

🍂 You can enter and enjoy the festival atmosphere around Kokusai Ski Resort’s base camp for free.
🚠 Gondola ticket prices:

🚙 by car:
One hour drive from Sapporo city centre, or a 40 minute drive from Otaru
🚌 by public transport:
Take the Namboku line to Makomanai and then the 12H bus to Jozankei, or the Kappa Liner directly from Sapporo Station to Jozankei. Then take one of the ski resort’s shuttle buses, which run three times a day to and from Jozankei’s tourist information centre (total journey time about 1hr30) 🍁
