As we approach the set Date for our party UDA grassroots elections we condemn any Boardroom/backdoor selection process or imposing party leadership from the top.
UDA Party Constitution is very clear on how to conduct Grassroots Elections.

The UDA Constitution strongly emphasizes bottom-up leadership, with authority beginning at the polling station and rising through the party structures.

1. Grassroots as the Foundation of the Party
• The Constitution recognizes grassroots members as the backbone of the party.
• Decision-making power flows from members upward, not imposed from the top.

2. Levels of Grassroots Elections

Grassroots elections are conducted at the following levels:
• Polling Station
• Ward
• Constituency
• County

Each level elects officials and delegates to represent members at higher party organs.

3. Polling Station Elections (Most Critical Level)
• Every registered UDA member votes at their polling station.
• Members elect:
• Polling station party officials
• Delegates who represent the polling station at the ward level
• This is the primary source of legitimate delegates in the party.

4. Ward Level Elections
• Composed of delegates elected from polling stations.
• Ward delegates:
• Elect ward party officials
• Elect representatives to the constituency level

5. Constituency Level
• Made up of ward delegates.
• Constituency delegates:
• Elect constituency party officials
• Forward representatives to the county level

6. County Level
• County delegates come from constituencies.
• They:
• Elect county party officials
• Represent the county in national party organs

7. Principles Governing Grassroots Elections

The Constitution requires that all grassroots elections must be:
• Democratic
• Transparent
• Free and fair
• Inclusive
• Conducted through secret ballot or agreed voting method
• Supervised by the party’s elections board or NEB

8. Role of Delegates
• Delegates must be elected, not appointed.
• Delegates represent the will of party members.
• Any process that bypasses grassroots elections contradicts the spirit and letter of the Constitution.

9. Protection of Members’ Rights
• Every registered member has the right to:
• Participate in grassroots elections
• Vote and be voted for
• Fair representation through elected delegates
