BENCHMARKING VISIT AT Homeboyz Institute of Technology
The renowned Homeboyz Franchise has long been celebrated for its GRIT, excellence, and innovation in media, studio production, and event management across Kenya. In a bold step towards strengthening the creative arts ecosystem, a delegation from the Department of Youth, Sports, Creative Arts and Talent Development undertook a benchmarking visit to the Homeboyz Institute of Technology.
The visit aimed at exploring practical and impactful ways to empower young creatives, enhance talent development, and elevate content creation—especially at the grassroots level.
Key areas of focus during the engagement included:
√Upgrading and optimizing EmbuTalent Academy studio operations
✓Advancing music and video production standards
✓Strengthening editing and digital content creation skills
✓Enhancing DJing and event production capabilities
✓Exploring gaming and film production opportunities
✓Building sustainable structures for talent identification and development
Encouragingly, discussions around a potential partnership are already underway, with both teams expressing strong commitment to collaboration.
This follows an earlier visit by H.E. Hon. Cecily Mbarire, EGH to the Homeboyz Academy, where she initiated conversations on forging strategic linkages to uplift talent development in Embu County.
The delegation was led by CEC Jane Waroga alongside Chief Officers Lucie Gasheri Nice and Kaburia Yusuf , Director Charles Njagi Talent Academy officers, and a team of Embu artists.
The benchmarking exercise was officiated by Homeboyz Founder and Director Mike Rabar who expressed great optimism about the collaboration and its potential to transform the creative industry at the county level.
To crown the experience, the team also visited the iconic Carnivore Grounds, where they observed preparations for an upcoming 5-day performance by top Kenyan artist Nyashinski, an event fully produced and directed by the Homeboyz Franchise—offering valuable insights into large-scale event production and ex*****on.
This promising partnership is set to kick off soon, marking a new chapter in empowering artists and creatives in Embu County. The future of talent development is bright, and the journey has just begun! 🚀✨

EMBU COUNTY CULTURAL DAY
Culture is a crucial and fundamental part of every African person—it shapes our livelihood, values, and identity.
Within the Embu–Mbeere communities, understanding our roots, cultural practices, livelihoods, and ethnicity is key in shaping who we are and giving us a strong sense of identity and belonging. However, with the current generation, this rich heritage is slowly eroding.
It is in this light that the Department of Youth, Gender, Culture and Children Services, with the support of the Embu County Government, plans to host an Embu County Cultural Day. The event aims to showcase and celebrate the diverse cultural practices of our tribes.
Led by CECM Jane Waroga Chief Officer Lucie Gasheri Nice , and Directors Rehema Ibrahim , the department held a stakeholders’ meeting bringing together representatives from various cultural groups and county government officials to plan for this important day, scheduled to take place later this year.
This event forms part of a long-term vision to establish a permanent Cultural Centre—a museum that will preserve, educate, and showcase Embu–Mbeere cultural practices and livelihoods for generations to come.
