Africa Climate Summit 2 Begins in Addis Ababa 🌍
The Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) officially kicks off today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (8–10 September 2025). Leaders, youth, innovators, and partners from across the globe are gathering under the theme:
“Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development.”
🔎 What is ACS?
The Africa Climate Summit was first held in 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, creating a unique platform for Africa to set the climate agenda and showcase homegrown solutions to the world. The inaugural summit produced the Nairobi Declaration, a landmark call for stronger climate finance and global climate justice.
This second edition (ACS2) builds on that momentum, focusing on:
1. Mobilizing financing for Africa’s green transition
2. Strengthening resilience in the face of climate risks
3. Ensuring Africa’s unified voice ahead of COP30 in Brazil later this year
Why does this matter for us?
Africa is among the regions most affected by climate change, yet it is also home to immense opportunities in renewable energy, agriculture, and nature-based solutions. The outcomes of ACS2 will directly influence how the world invests in Africa’s sustainable future and how African solutions shape global climate action.
