As we welcome the month of April, the Rotary Club of Bamburi–Mombasa joins the global network of Rotary International in observing Maternal and Child Health Month.

Every mother deserves safe care during pregnancy and childbirth, and every child deserves a healthy start to life. By supporting access to healthcare, promoting nutrition, and strengthening communities, we can help reduce preventable illness and ensure brighter futures for families.

Rotary members around the world work together to support mothers and children through health education, medical support, and community-based initiatives that save lives and transform communities.

This April, let us continue to advocate for healthier mothers, stronger children, and thriving communities.

💛 Healthy mothers. Healthy children. Stronger communities.

Did you know? Rotary’s very first service project focused on WASH. 💧

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Month in Rotary, a time when we highlight the importance of clean water, sanitation, and hygiene around the world.

Interestingly, this focus dates back to the very beginning of Rotary.

In 1907, the Rotary Club of Chicago, under the leadership of Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, initiated Rotary’s first public service project.

The project involved building a “comfort station”, what we would today call a public toilet, in Chicago. At the time, this initiative helped improve sanitation, hygiene, and public health in the city.

More than a century later, WASH remains a key focus of Rotary’s work worldwide. Through projects that provide clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene education, Rotary continues to improve lives and strengthen communities.
