🎉 Congratulations to 🇨🇿 Dvůr Králové Zoo on its 80th anniversary!

For decades, the zoo has been a trusted partner of 🇰🇪 Kenya in wildlife conservation, working closely with , Ol Pajeta Wildlife Conservancy and to protect endangered northern white rhinos 🦏 and mountain bongos.

To celebrate the recent transfer of mountain bongos from 🇨🇿 to Kenya 🇰🇪, the 🇨🇿 Embassy proudly adopted bongos at ❤️

Together, we continue supporting conservation efforts that help protect some of the world’s rarest species for future generations.

🇨🇿 Today, we mark the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, one of the most tragic conflicts in human history. With deep respect, we honour all those who sacrificed their lives in the fight for freedom and democracy. Victory Day serves as a lasting reminder that peace and freedom are not a given, but are values that must be both protected and defended. 🕊

Conservation is truly a 🤝 team effort. The successful transfer of the endangered mountain bongos back to Kenya was made possible through incredible global collaboration.

Supervised by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) & Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy (MKWC), conducted by Zoo Dvůr Králové, and initiated by Prague Zoo—this milestone was coordinated by EAZA in partnership with zoos across the UK, Germany, Denmark, and Slovakia.

Together, we’re giving these majestic animals a second chance in their natural home. 🌿🐾

👏 We were honoured to join CS Musalia Mudavadi, CS Rebecca Miano, Prof. Erustus Kanga, and the Kenya Wildlife Service team in receiving rare mountain bongos from Czechia 🇨🇿 for conservation efforts in Kenya 🇰🇪 at Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy.

This important transfer, carried out by Dvůr Králové Zoo under the auspices of Czech President Petr Pavel, marks a significant step in protecting and restoring this critically endangered species.

Together, we continue to strengthen global partnerships for wildlife conservation. 🌍🐾

New addition to our team in Nairobi🌞

Today, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nairobi welcomed Lucy, a student from the University of Nairobi, who joins us for a one-month internship.
She will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Embassy, gaining valuable professional experience in a region of growing importance in global politics.

We wish Lucy much success and an unforgettable experience during her time with us!

The Embassy staff (including the dog Orfeus 🐾) has had the pleasure of working with our intern Tomáš Zemek from the Technical University of Liberec for the past three months, as part of the Erasmus+ program.

Tomáš has been a great help with a wide range of tasks. On the occasion of his departure, Ambassador Nicol Adamcová thanked him and wished him much success in his future studies and life.

🕯️Remember-Unite-Renew: International day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda 🕯️

On Tuesday, April 7th, the UN Office at Nairobi, in collaboration with the Rwanda High Commission in Kenya, marked the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the UNON Complex in Nairobi.

The ceremony began with a candle lighting in memory of the victims, followed by a powerful testimony from a survivor. The event was further honored by a moving choir performance.

🇨🇿🇷🇼It was an honor for us to participate in this meaningful day, joining in the reflection on how we can ensure such atrocities are never repeated.
