Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Hon Musalia W Mudavadi today chaired the 1st National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) meeting of 2026, bringing together Principal Secretaries and senior government officials at the Kenya School of Government to review progress and sharpen the delivery of national priorities.

Held under the theme “Effective and Efficient Management of Public Service Delivery,” the meeting underscored the Government’s commitment to faster, smarter and more accountable implementation of programmes and projects, ensuring that every promise made to Kenyans translates into meaningful results.

H.E. Mudavadi reminded Principal Secretaries that they remain the driving force behind national transformation, with a central responsibility to accelerate implementation and sustain momentum across ministries, departments and agencies. He emphasized that the success of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda will ultimately be measured by its visible impact on the lives of wananchi through lower living costs, job creation, expanded economic opportunities and broad-based inclusive growth.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary further noted that the Government’s immediate focus remains safeguarding macroeconomic stability, cushioning vulnerable households against rising costs, managing energy prices and improving service delivery across all sectors of the economy.

He called for renewed urgency, stronger coordination and results-driven leadership, affirming that efficient public service delivery remains the cornerstone of building a more prosperous, resilient and equitable Kenya.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Hon Musalia W Mudavadi has said the story of the Mountain Bongo is a powerful reflection of Kenya’s wider environmental journey, one marked by both loss and renewed determination to restore the nation’s natural heritage.

Speaking during the repatriation of Mountain Bongos from Czech Republic through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, H.E. Mudavadi noted that the species once roamed freely across Kenya’s majestic montane forests, from the Aberdare Range to Mount Kenya, the Mau Forest and Eburu Forest, but now faces the grave threat of extinction. With fewer than 102 individuals remaining in the wild, he said the moment calls for urgent action, collective resolve and sustained stewardship.

He affirmed that the Government of Kenya remains firmly guided by national conservation policies and legislative frameworks, particularly the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013, which provides a strong foundation for species protection, habitat restoration and the preservation of biodiversity as a treasured national inheritance.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the return of the Mountain Bongos is more than a wildlife milestone, it is a symbol of hope, resilience and Kenya’s unwavering commitment to reversing environmental decline through partnerships, science and responsible conservation.

He commended Rebecca Miano, Erustus Kanga, Kenya Wildlife Service, Humphrey Kariuki, Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy and Moses Wekesa for their leadership and collaboration in facilitating the successful repatriation and seamless handling of the animals on arrival.
