KENAS CEO Dr. Walter Ongeti is attending the 3rd Annual Revitalisation and Re-Energisation of Regulatory Authorities and Agencies (RAAs) Conference at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Kitui County.
The Conference has brought together senior Government officials, policymakers, regulators, and key stakeholders to discuss strengthening governance, accountability, institutional effectiveness, and measurable regulatory impact in public service delivery under the theme: “Consistent Measurement and Evaluation of Real Regulatory Impact on the Ground.”

Privileged to host Commissioner Leonid Ashindu, Vice Chairman of the Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA), at our KENAS offices today.
We had a productive discussion on deepening collaboration between KENAS and APSEA, with a key focus on leveraging accreditation to strengthen the role of professional bodies under APSEA.
KENAS accredits Conformity Assessment Bodies under ISO/IEC 17024 international standard for certification of persons. Through this partnership, we look forward to expanding frontiers of opportunities for professionals in Kenya, across the region, and globally.

KENAS recently held a strategic engagement with the Kenya Leather Development Council to explore how accreditation can support the enhancement of the quality of products and services in Kenya’s leather sector.
The discussions focused on strengthening quality infrastructure through accreditation and identifying opportunities to enhance the competitiveness of leather products in both regional and international markets.
The engagement also outlined a clear roadmap towards accreditation, including capacity building, scheme development, and institutional collaboration.
This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality, compliance, and global competitiveness of Kenya’s leather sector.

KENAS is conducting a five-day UNIDO Online Assessor Technical Training on ISO/IEC 17065:2012 and ISO/IEC 17067:2013, bringing together participants from Certification Bodies across Africa.
The training, facilitated by Mr. Michael Talam and Mr. Carey Ochogo, is aimed at strengthening participants’ technical competence in product certification systems and enhancing the credibility, consistency, and harmonization of conformity assessment practices across the continent.
Through this capacity-building initiative, KENAS continues to support the development of competent assessors and the promotion of internationally recognized accreditation practices that facilitate quality, consumer confidence, and regional trade.

KENAS congratulates Mr. Brahim Houla and Mr. Emanuele Riva on the successful convening of the Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI) General Assembly held in Prague on 25 April 2026.
This milestone event, the third General Assembly and the first since the organisation’s formal launch on 1 January 2026, marks a significant step in strengthening global accreditation cooperation.
A key highlight of the Assembly was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with strategic partners across the global quality infrastructure, including International Organization for Standardization, World Anti-Doping Agency, International Organization of Legal Metrology, and United Nations Industrial Development Organization. These partnerships reinforce Global ACI’s expanding role in advancing international collaboration and trust in accreditation.
Membership of KENAS to the Global ACI shows our commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and reducing technical barriers to trade.
We look forward to actively contributing to the future milestones of the Global ACI.

KENAS conducted a two-day virtual training on the Implementation of ISO 37301:2021 – Compliance Management Systems (CMS), delivered by the British Standards Institution (BSI) trainer Dr. Swapan Purkait for the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS)
The training equipped participants with practical knowledge on establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving effective compliance management systems aligned with international best practices. It also highlighted the importance of strong governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance in enhancing organizational integrity and performance.
This initiative reflects KENAS’ continued commitment to building capacity and supporting institutions in strengthening compliance frameworks and achieving globally recognized standards

KENAS successfully conducted a documentation training on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training & Research in Machakos.
The training focused on strengthening documentation practices, enhancing quality management systems, and ensuring compliance with international standards for testing and calibration laboratories.
This initiative supports the Centre’s journey towards accreditation, promoting credible and reliable results in groundwater research and resource management.

KENAS conducted a three-day training for the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) on the implementation of ISO/IEC 17029:2019 – Conformity Assessment: General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodies.
Facilitated by expert trainer Linda Itindi, the training strengthened technical capacity in validation and verification, enhanced understanding of the standard’s requirements, and provided practical insights into applying ISO/IEC 17029:2019 in assessment processes.
The sessions also focused on improving competence in developing and managing validation and verification activities in line with international best practice.
