Did you know Morganโ€™s journey began at just two weeks old?
She was rescued in 2017 after being found all alone by community members in Naivasha - too young to survive on her own. Orphaned and vulnerable, Morgan was brought to the KWS Nairobi Animal Orphanage, where her second chance began.

Giraffes require intensive care in their early months, and Morgan was hand-raised for nearly two years before she could be weaned; a journey that demanded round-the-clock dedication.

Today, she roams the forest at the KWS Nairobi Safari Walk, where visitors can spot her gracefully browsing through the trees - strong, calm, and thriving.

Behind that calm stroll is daily care that includes:

โžก๏ธ Half a bale of lucerne
โžก๏ธ Pellets & horse cubes
โžก๏ธ Routine medication & tick control
โžก๏ธ Natural browsing on forest leaves

Help us continue giving Morgan and others like her the care they need to grow, heal, and thrive.

The Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Prof. Erustus Kanga held a consultative meeting with the leadership and members of Friends of Nairobi National Park (FoNNaP) at KWS Headquarters to address concerns and strengthen collaboration on the future of Nairobi National Park.

The engagement underscored the Serviceโ€™s commitment to building partnerships anchored on trust, transparency, mutual respect, and a shared vision for conservation. During the meeting, the Service presented the master plan for the proposed upgraded Nairobi Animal Orphanage.

The session provided an opportunity to comprehensively brief a conservation partner on the upgrade and relocation of the facility. It was demonstrated that the current orphanage is overstretched due to increasing numbers of rescued animals, large numbers of visitors, particular school children, and growing demand for conservation education. The proposed new site near Galleriaโ€“Bomas, within a grassland glade, was identified through a rigorous scientific and multi-agency process as the most suitable option. The site construction will not effect any of the parkโ€™s upload forest, and only a minimal number of invasive eucalyptus trees, previous planned for removal, will be cut down. The site offers adequate space, improved accessibility, enhanced animal welfare conditions, and a significantly improved learning environment for visitors.

This initiative represents a critical step in strengthening wildlife care, advancing conservation education, and securing the future of Kenyaโ€™s natural heritage. The upgraded orphanage is expected to enhance rescue and rehabilitation outcomes, improve visitor experience, create over 500 jobs, and reinforce Nairobiโ€™s position as a global conservation hub. The facility will also include parking capacity for up to 1,300 vehicles to support up to 20,000 visitors per day. The Service remains open to constructive engagement with all stakeholders aligned to these objectives, recognizing that successful conservation is built on collaboration, clarity of purpose, and shared responsibility.

Did you know that Bobโ€™s story actually began as a gesture of international relations?

In 1970, during a historic visit to Kenya, the then President of Liberia, Dr. William Tubman, arrived as the Guest of Honour, during the Nairobi ASK show. He didn't come empty-handed; he brought a rare and precious gift: a pair of Pygmy Hippos.

Bob carries on that incredible lineage as their grandson right here at the Nairobi safari walk. He is a living link to our history and a testament to the long-standing bond between nations committed to wildlife.

We are calling on all conservation heroes to help us maintain the high standard of care Bob deserves.

Your donations go directly toward:

โžก๏ธ Preserving Heritage: Specialized care for rare species like the Pygmy Hippo.
โžก๏ธ Daily Wellness: Feeding and habitat enrichment tailored to Bob's unique needs.
โžก๏ธ Education: Helping us tell the story of wildlife conservation to thousands of visitors.
