The State Department for Diaspora Affairs, through its initiative, participated in the Interdenominational Prayers Day for Chemase Zone Senior Schools at Kapsigilai Girls Senior School, Chemase-Chemelil, Nandi County.

The event was graced by Mr.Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service.

Led by Ms. Jennifer Wanami of the Skills and Expertise Division, the SDDA team briefed students, parents, teachers and members of the public on the Department’s mandate to protect, empower and connect Kenyans living abroad.

Participants were also sensitized on safe and orderly labour migration, fair recruitment channels, diaspora welfare, consular support, investment opportunities, skills transfer, and the importance of using official verified platforms when seeking opportunities overseas.

The outreach formed part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of government services offered through the State Department for Diaspora Affairs and to ensure Kenyans are well informed and prepared as they pursue opportunities worldwide.

Mr. Brian Kipchirchir, Ms. Deborah Ruto, and Mr. Chris Ndegwa were in attendance.

H.E President William Samoei Ruto,PhD, today hosted Kenyan diaspora representatives from 40 countries at State House-Nairobi in an engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between the government and Kenyans living and working abroad.

Today, Diaspora Affairs PS Ms. .njogu , held a collaborative meeting with Dr. Garry Conille, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kenya, to explore areas of collaboration on diaspora affairs and migration management.

Today, Diaspora Affairs PS, Ms. .njogu , held a consultative meeting with a section of Kenyans in the diaspora and their leaders, led by Mr. Sam Ronoh, a member of the Kenyan community in the United Kingdom.

The engagement reiterated the pivotal role the diaspora continues to play in Kenya’s socio-economic advancement and national development agenda.

During the meeting, PS Njogu outlined the State Department’s expanded mandate, underscoring the Government’s commitment to deepening diaspora engagement, strengthening service delivery, and addressing the evolving needs of Kenyans overseas.

Deliberations focused on the protection, welfare and empowerment of Kenyans living and working abroad, and on measures to increase diaspora participation in democratic processes and national development initiatives.

Attendees explored avenues for enhanced government–diaspora collaboration in investment, skills development, technology transfer and other priority areas.

PS Njogu stressed the importance of unity and coordination among diaspora associations, observing that a cohesive diaspora voice will yield more effective representation, stronger advocacy and reduce instances of misinformation and misrepresentation.

Diaspora leaders reaffirmed their continued support and commitment to Government initiatives, pledging to contribute to Kenya’s development through investments, partnerships and community-led programmes.

Also present were Ambassador Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investment,Skills and Entrepreneurship; Ambassador Ann Wanjohi, Director-Liaison and Partnership Division; Mr. Komora Yesse,FSO; and Ms. Anne Kimani, FSO.

Amb. Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investment, Skills and Entrepreneurship, met with Ms. Lucy Watari, CEO of the Kenya US Diaspora SACCO (KUDS), to discuss partnership opportunities aimed at increasing diaspora savings and investments and raising awareness of SACCO benefits among Kenyans abroad.

Ms. Watari was accompanied by Mr. Karimi Igeria, KUDS Board Secretary.

Hon. Dr. Isaac Mwaura, Government Spokesperson, today accompanied a Botswana delegation on a courtesy call on Ms. .njogu , CBS, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs.

Diaspora_KE PS Ms. Roseline K Njogu , held a meeting with Mr. Sudi Wandabusi, Chairperson of the Kenya Film Commission, Dr. Salesio Nyamu, CEO of Komarock Modern Healthcare and Ms. Cecilia Naliaka, Project Manager at St. Anthony Nursing Home/Rehabilitation Centre, who paid a courtesy call on her.

Discussions centered on forging strategic partnerships to strengthen Kenyan enterprises in the diaspora, create structured labour mobility pathways that expand dignified, skilled employment for Kenyans abroad, and leverage international platforms alongside the diaspora to grow the country’s film industry and wider creative economy.

The meeting also explored collaboration opportunities in skills development, healthcare partnerships, diaspora investment, talent exploration, and the international promotion of Kenyan culture and creative content.

Participants highlighted the diaspora’s increasing role as a catalyst for economic growth, innovation, knowledge exchange, and access to global markets for Kenyan professionals and entrepreneurs.

Ms. .njogu , Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, today appeared before the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee, chaired by Hon. Lydia Haika Mizighi, the Taita Taveta County Woman Representative.

PS Njogu briefed the Committee on priorities affecting Kenyans living abroad, including welfare concerns, challenges faced by migrant workers, and opportunities available to the diaspora community.

Committee discussions highlighted Government efforts to expand employment pathways for Kenyans overseas through the negotiation, signing, and implementation of Bilateral Labour Agreements (BLAs) with key destination countries.

The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Dr. David Katiambo, Director of the Welfare and Rights Division; Ms. Irene Karari, Director of the Skills and Expertise Division; Mr. Wario Galgalo; Ms. Phylis Githua; Ms. Stephanie Mungai; Mr. Ledama Meisashi; and Mr. Philip Opwora.
