UK CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS KENYA
The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri today hosted The United Kingdom Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Sir Roland Walker, who paid him a courtesy call at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi. Gen Sir Walker was accorded a half guard mounted by the Kenya Air Force.
During their bilateral discussions on areas of cooperation among the two nations. Gen Kahariri noted that Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK) share long-standing relations and have partnered extensively in the areas of defence, security, and counter-terrorism
He also underscored the value of the cooperation, resulting in capacity building for KDF through military activities and programmes. These include joint training and exercises, the tri-lateral construction of Counter-Insurgency, Terrorism and Stability Operations (CITSO) training centre between Kenya, UK, and US as well as the development of the Kenya Navy Marines.
UK’s General Walker pledged continued cooperation in enhancing Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) capacity to boost KDF contribution to regional peace, security, and stability owing to her position as an anchor State in the region.
Also present during the talks was the Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lt. Gen John Omenda, Kenya Airforce Commander, Maj. Gen Fatma Ahmed, Chief of Operations at the Defence Headquarters, Chief of Personnel at the Defence Headquarters, and Chief of Logistics at the Defence Headquarters.

ADVANCING ETHICS AND ANTI-CORRUPTION MEASURES
Mr. Twalib Mbarak, the Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), paid a courtesy call to the CDF Gen Charles Kahariri at the Defence Headquarters today, Thursday 01 Aug 24.
During the meeting, they discussed how KDF inculcates anti-corruption measures and sustains a culture of ethical standards. The two leaders acknowledged that these are critical values to ensure the military remains accountable and professional in the fulfilment of the KDF mandate.
To build on existing ethics and anti corruption measures, EACC was invited to work closely with KDF, especially to curb recruitment malpractices.

CDF GEN KAHARIRI HOSTS JAPANESE AMBASSADOR TO KENYA
The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri today hosted the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya His Excellency Okaniwa Ken at the Defence Headquarters.
The CDF noted that the two countries share bilateral relations dating back to the 60s and thanked the Government of Japan for the continued support in peace support training at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi.
He added that through the ‘Proactive Contribution to Peace Policy’, Japan has actively participated in maintaining global peace through legislation for peace and security.
Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kenya has registered developmental projects such as the construction of the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone, expansion of Moi International Airport, Mombasa Port Container Terminal as well as the construction of bridges in Nyali, Mtwapa and Kilifi.
Ambassador Ken underscored the value of Kenya - Japan relations, indicating that he looks forward to strengthening the established defence relations.
Some of the areas considered for possible collaboration include maritime security, information sharing, joint military training, and disaster response.

GENERAL KAHARIRI VISITS KENYA NAVY
The chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri conducted a two-day visit to Kenya Navy Base (KNB), Mtongwe and KNB Manda Bay as part of his familiarization tour to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Units and Formations.
The visit underscored the strategic importance of Kenya Navy in safeguarding Kenya's maritime interests as well as enhancing operational readiness and morale of Kenya Navy service personnel.
Upon arrival, the CDF was received by Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Paul Otieno and accorded a guard of honour mounted by Kenya Navy personnel.
He laid a wreath at the Kenya Navy Headquarters and KNB Manda Bay monuments to honor the fallen heroes as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women of Kenya Navy in the line of duty.
The CDF was briefed on the security situation, operations, personnel and logistics matters.
In his speech to Kenya Navy Officers and Service Members , General Kahariri assured them of his continued support in training, equipment modernization and welfare programs.
He implored the achievements of the Kenya Navy citing successful maritime security operations conducted recently and in the past emphasizing the critical role they play in national security and regional stability.
He thanked the Officers and service Members for their efforts and good work in defending Kenya's maritime borders encouraging them to remain resilient and innovative in their areas of deloyment.
“We should endeavour to be professional and lay the right ground work to support the institutions in place,” said the CDF.
General Kahariri urged Kenya Navy Officers and Service Members to be on the front line on matters environmental security by planting trees which is in line with the National tree planting campaign.
The CDF also visited the Kenya Shipyards Limited where he chaired the 12th Kenya Shipyards Limited Board of Directors meeting and welcomed the new members to the board before being acquainted with the current operations at the shipyard.
The CDF was also hosted onboard Kenya Navy Ship Jasiri and sailied to KNB Manda Bay.
This was the first official visit by General Kahariri to the Kenya Navy since his appointment as the CDF.

CDF TO AIR FORCE; "LET US FORGE AHEAD FOR MISSION SUCCESS"
On Friday, 14 June 24, Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, visited the Kenya Air Force (KAF) at Laikipia Air Base, inline with the CDF familiarization tour to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Services. The visit provided a comprehensive overview of the Kenya Air Force and offered the CDF an opportunity to interact with officers, airmen and women of KAF
Upon his arrival, General Kahariri was welcomed by KAF Commander, Major General Fatuma Ahmed. The days events included laying a wreath at the Base Monument in honor of the fallen soldiers; inspecting a Half Guard of Honour, a comprehensive brief to gain a detailed understanding of the mandare, operational status and effectiveness of the Kenya Air Force, a tour of select facilities at the Base, a luncheon in his honour and an address to all KAF personnel.
During the adress, Maj Gen Ahmed emphasized KAF's unwavering commitment to safeguarding Kenyan airspace.
"As KAF, we will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance and professionalism in safeguarding our airspace against external aggression," said Maj Gen Ahmed.
In his address, Gen Kahariri praised their dedication and emphasized the importance of adhering to KDF's core values in their operations. He also called on the Air Force to continue supporting the Kenya Army and Kenya Navy, expressing his outlook to have one force forging ahead for mission success.
The CDF also urged all to uphold KDF's core values underscoring that the military is special because we are apolitical, professional, known for ntegrity, operating under civil prerogative, and loyal through the chain of command,.
General Kahariri also toured several key departments and facilities, including the Liquid Oxygen Plant and the Aviation Center of Excellence (ACE). These visits aimed to evaluate and understand how these facilities continue to achieve operational effectiveness.
