The Youth Fund today engaged agriculture and veterinary medicine students at the University of Nairobi, Upper Kabete Campus, on financing and enterprise development opportunities.
YEDF was represented by Daniel Mathenge, Head of Commercial Infrastructure, on behalf of Ag. Chief Executive Officer CPA Benedict Atavachi. He was accompanied by Senior Enterprise Development Officer Samuel Njue, Nairobi Assistant County Officer Kennedy Otinga, and Enterprise Officers Joy Abel and Joy Koross.
Students were taken through YEDF services, including affordable credit, entrepreneurship training, mentorship, coaching, market linkages and support for innovations.
Mathenge encouraged students to turn their knowledge, skills and ideas into viable enterprises. “Agriculture and veterinary students already have knowledge that can solve real market needs. YEDF can support you to turn those ideas into enterprises through financing and business development services,” Mathenge said.
He also encouraged students to visit YEDF offices, seek information and identify suitable products for their business.
Before the forum, the YEDF team paid a courtesy call to Prof. Jackson Ombui, Dean of Veterinary Medicine.
The meeting focused on the Fund’s mandate and possible areas of collaboration with the university. Discussions included support for student innovations, affordable financing and enterprise development services.
