1ST JUNE 2026
Today, we lay to rest a truly incredible soul and a dear friend to me, John Thuku Watuthu in Chakareli, Weru Ward, Ol Jororok Constituency in Nyandarua County. Saying goodbye is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but looking around today, it was clear just how many lives you touched.
Thank you for the unforgettable memories, and for being such a bright light in our lives.
You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts. Rest in peace, my friend Mr. Thuku

NANYUKI MARKET INFERNO
To all traders and families affected by the devastating fire at Nanyuki Market last evening, I extend my deepest sympathy and solidarity during this painful and difficult moment.
I understand the immense loss and hardship many of you are going through after losing your businesses, investments, and source of livelihood to the raging inferno.
Immediately after receiving reports of the fire, we moved swiftly to coordinate emergency response efforts with KAF Nanyuki Airbase.
The Laikipia County Fire-fighting team were first to arrive. I also recognize the efforts of Nyeri county standby team from Narumoro town who came later to assist in putting out the fire. Residents, well-wishers, and the British Army BATUK camp, have since joined ongoing efforts to contain the fire, which has since been put out.
We remain grateful that no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
To the resilient traders of Nanyuki, please know that you are not alone. I stand with you fully and remain committed to supporting every effort aimed at helping affected families recover, rebuild, and restore hope to our market community.
Though property has been lost, our spirit as the people of Nanyuki remains strong. Together, we shall rebuild.

UPGRADE TO BITUMEN STANDARD OF SHEIKH - KWA MWAURA ROAD
Engineers are already on site preparing the grounds for the tarmacking of Kwa Mwaura Road.
The first phase of this road has kicked off at the Nanyuki-Meru highway junction, and will connect residents of Kwa Mwaura, Nyariginu and Daiga areas.
Currently, the contractor is in the Formation and road shaping stages, and I am happy to note that all unskilled labour has been awarded to residents of this area.
Once complete, the upgraded road is expected to ease movement, boost trade, reduce transport costs and open up the area for faster economic growth and development.
