In 2025, NCRC undertook a study on Homicides in Kenya, which examined, among other issues, the killings of women and girls.
The study established that women in Kenya are most often killed in circumstances linked to intimate partner violence, relationship conflicts, property disputes, gender-based violence, as well as socio-economic and cultural pressures. The findings further revealed that these killings are driven by underlying factors deeply rooted in societal norms, economic hardships, and systemic weaknesses in protection mechanisms and access to justice.
