Background
The National Economic and Social Council (NESC) was set up under the Office of the President through Gazette notice No. 7699 of September, 2004. It is Kenya’s top advisory body to the Government on policies required to accelerate social and economic development of the country. The establishment of the Council can be traced back to the Economic Recovery Strategy (ERS) For Wealth and Employment Creation 2003 – 2007.
