12th May 2026

Kenya Institute of Primate Research - KIPRE led by Dr. Atunga Nyachieo and Dr. Mwangi Kareri hosted a delegation from Armauer Hansen Research Institute led by Dr. Dereje Nigussie. The visitors were accompanied by Dr. Nancy Kinyatta and Lucy Gitau from KEMRI.
The meeting focused on discussions around the mandates, research activities and areas of mutual interest between the two institutions. Several areas of collaboration were identified, including research, training, and capacity building. To advance the partnership, an eight-member team was established to spearhead the collaboration.
The delegation later paid a courtesy call to the Director General Dr. Peter Mwethera, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional and regional research partnerships.
