Theme: Honoring 30 years of Conservation and Resilience Across the Greater Laikipia Landscape.
Kenya Institute of Primate Research - KIPRE through the Evolutionary Ecology, Conservation and Ecosystem Health Division & the Corporate Communication Division (The Oloolua Nature Trail) is proud to participate in Laikipia Wildlife and Tourism Expo 2026 at Cedar Mall Rooftop in Nanyuki Town.
The event brings together researchers, conservationists, tourism stakeholders, community organizations, students, nature enthusiasts and industry partners to celebrate the rich biodiversity and conservation achievements across the greater Laikipia and other landscapes.
Our participation showcases:
โข Research, biodiversity/primate conservation, and ecosystem health innovations.
โข Community engagement and conservation awareness activities.
โข Nature-based therapeutic walks & runs, waterfalls, caves and other picnic sites in Oloolua.
โข Flora & Fauna experience (birdlife, botany, entomology, herpetology, saprotrophs e.t.c).

Kenya Institute of Primate Research - KIPRE led by Dr. Atunga Nyachieo and Dr. Mwangi Kareri hosted a delegation from Armauer Hansen Research Institute led by Dr. Dereje Nigussie. The visitors were accompanied by Dr. Nancy Kinyatta and Lucy Gitau from KEMRI.
The meeting focused on discussions around the mandates, research activities and areas of mutual interest between the two institutions. Several areas of collaboration were identified, including research, training, and capacity building. To advance the partnership, an eight-member team was established to spearhead the collaboration.
The delegation later paid a courtesy call to the Director General Dr. Peter Mwethera, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional and regional research partnerships.
