The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), led by Chief Executive Officer ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ง๐, appeared before the Public Investments Committee on Social Services, Administration and Agriculture (PICSSAA) at Bunge Tower on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to reaffirm its commitment to operational excellence and financial accountability.
During the session with the Committee, chaired by ๐๐จ๐ง. ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐, the Council addressed concerns spanning the 2013/2014 to 2024/2025 financial years, acknowledging that while essential documentation existed, delays in submission had hindered the process.
To prevent future gaps, Dr. Munene detailed a series of internal reforms aimed at strengthening documentation practices and ensuring that comprehensive supporting materials accompany all financial statements at the point of submission.
This includes enhanced monitoring and field verification for major works, such as the Kisii School for the Blind project, which the Council confirmed is complete and fully certified.
Through these institutional reforms and improved coordination with the Office of the Auditor General, the Council is actively streamlining its internal processes to better fulfill its mandate. NCPWD continues to strengthen its capacity as a regulator and policy advisor, ensuring that every resource is effectively utilized to advance the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities across Kenya.
