Farmers Party extend gratitude to H.E President William Ruto following his recent announcement that Government will write off Kes. 6Bn of coffee farmers debts as well as increase Cherry Fund by Kes. 2Bn. This will help revamp coffee farming that has been dying over the years.

Hon. Irungu Nyakera, CBS -Party Leader for Farmers Party in his pitch pleaded with Mt. Kenya politicians to focus on such agendas that directly impact on livelihoods of our people.

"Lets focus on agendas that directly impact on livelihoods of the people who voted us rather than daily bickering and politicking. For now, lets review Finance Bill and its implications to the common man and bring relevant debates to Parliament"~Hon. Nyakera.

Hon. Irungu Nyakera, CBS while appearing for a breakfast interview at Kameme Tv weighed on politics and development in Mt. Kenya.

Mr. Nyakera noted that we are our own problem. He observed that political leadership in Mt. Kenya is embroiled in unnecessary infighting impeding much needed development for the region. He called on all elected and appointed leaders to rally together and work in delivering the manifesto they promised to "Wanjiku".

Hon. Nyakera is currently serving as the Board Chair -KEMSA and he highlighted major reforms the board has effected since their inception to office. The reforms have seen KEMSA redeem its trust and image with the members of the public.

"It is time to work and deliver our promises to our people. Time for politics will come and we shall still compete and people will decide who is who"~Mr. Nyakera.

Yesterday, Hon. Irungu Nyakera, CBS paid a courtesy call to CEO of Kakuzi Plc. They engaged and discussed on areas Kakuzi needs to focus on to become a Murang'a Company rather than a company in Murang'a.

Important to note is the role the company is playing in value addition, aggregation and community engagement. They have fully integrated smallholder Farmers into their ecosystem.

Mr. Nyakera was impressed by the company for it has a Human Rights Awareness Manager with a key mandate of engaging all employees and stakeholders to ensure that their rights are guaranteed and protected.

Public Participation Meeting at Delmonte

Last week ,Hon. Irungu Nyakera, CBS addressed a public participation meeting at Delmonte. In his address, Mr. Nyakera questioned whether Delmonte is doing enough for the local community and people of Murang'a County.

He urged the company to improve its relationship with locals by offering their youths jobs and offer more CSR activities to fully integrate with the community.

It was noted that 40% of the cases at the Kenol Law Courts relate to youth caught stealing from Delmonte farm. "There has to be a better way to handle this issue outside courts"~Mr. Nyakera.

Further, Mr. Nyakera proposed the need to explore the possibility of creating a pineapple outgrowers program that will then make pineapples a cash crop for our Farmers. This program will enlist Farmers who will grow pineapples and sell to Delmonte under proper extension services.

*Stakeholder Meeting Btwn KEMSA &AstraZeneca*

Last week KEMSA led by Board Chair -Irungu Nyakera, CBS held a stakeholder meeting with AstraZeneca to discuss areas of collaborations and partnership in support of Cancer care. The outcome of the meeting was as follows:

(1)Develop a framework to enable all eligible patients to access oncology drugs at KEMSA at lowest prices;

(2). AstraZeneca to consider investing in Prostrate and Breast Cancer Screening platforms in the 47 County referral hospitals;

(3) NHIF to provide patients journey reimbursement for all eligible patients.
