On 25th October 2023 , we partnered with The Ministry of Health to distribute 7,480 Community Health Promoters Kits to cover over 800,000 households in Nairobi County. The collaboration aims to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare services within a robust Primary Health Care system, aiming for Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The initiative aims to localize care, provide basic health skills to communities, and prioritize prevention through early detection, health promotion, and community sensitization. will be critical in preventing diseases and reducing the burden on our health facilities. Nairobi County has been paying Community Health Promoters stipends since H.E Sakaja Arthur Johnson came into office.

NAIROBI 23rd September,2023

Talent Skills Development and Care Sector, in partnership with No One Out Organisation, held a training session at a Nairobi Hotel. The training sessions discussed on improving, supporting, and promoting inclusive vocational education.

No one Out is an Italian Non Governmental Organisation collaborating with Nairobi county to strength the standards of the 8 Vocational Training Centres (VTCs ) in the county to develop and implement an action and coordination plan, that integrates promotion of the educational, social and professional inclusion of vulnerable youth and young people with disabilities in the county, with a view to increase the number of students with relevant skills, including technical and professional, and favour their participation in the labour market, both employment and self-employment.

While addressing the participants who were drawn from the 8 Vocational Training Centres, the Chief Officer for Early Chilhood Development and vocational training Mr. Ahmed Abdi said “The training has emphasized several critical areas, mental health, life skills, gender-based violence, hygiene, s*x education, and disability. We strongly recommend these topics to be part of the curriculum for inclusion in vocational training centers to aid in the development of a robust curriculum for trainees.

He further said that the County Vocational Training Officers have reviewed the life skills manuals that has been developed in collaboration with our partners and have agreed to make the topics are more comprehensive, we therefore recommed the introduction of new subjects that will include climate change in our TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training). We have noted the need for refresher training for trainers, in order to address trainer turnover in our traninig centres. It is also important to encourage the formation of peer groups, clubs, and group discussions in vocational training centers. The county will increase research to ensure inclusivity in all our centres.”

School principals are encouraged to undergo training to effectively guide students who are enrolling in vocational training centers. The county will support this through partners in the education sector.

No one out has so far distributed booklets in educational institutions promoting responsible and healthy relationships, known as "Jipende." The booklets main focus has been on one gender, focus on both genders is now part of the plan on the next issue , to ensure its more inclusive and addresses both genders.

Nairobi:23rd September 2023,*Commissioning of Nairobi Rivers recovery strategy action plan.*

Nairobi City County's Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri today joined Principal Secretary State Department for Devolution Hon.Teresia Mbaika and Nairobi River's Commission Chair Dr.Pamela Olet for the inauguration of Nairobi River's Commission Action Plan in Gatina -Dagoretti North Subcounty.

The joint operation between Nairobi City County Government, Water Resources Authority, Nairobi Rivers Commission, National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) and XCMG among other key stakeholders came together in support of a common theme dubbed "Letting our Rivers flow"

The team commited to focus extensively on solid waste removal from the riparian areas, rehabilitation works through vegetation cover enhancement, mapping out of waste water discharge points along the riverine.

Recently Nairobi City County Government unveiled about 2500 youths otherwise referred to as the Green Army under the Green Nairobi sector in an effort to speed up clearing and unclogging of drains across the city ahead of the El Nino season.

Consequently the County acquired a total of 66. No trucks and machinery (i. e Backhoes, Refuse Compactors, Excavators, Wheel loaders and BCs) to compliment solid waste management.

Present at the fete were; Hon Esther Passaris-Nairobi City County Women Representative; Mr.John Paul Malawi-Nairobi City County Director for Environment; Brigadier Joseph Muracia -CEO Nairobi Rivers Commission; Director General NEMA- Mr.Mamo B. Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri in the company of first lady H.E Mama Rachel Ruto flagged off a donation of over 60,000 bags relief food by Dr.Rodney Horward-Browne Team at Nyayo National Stadium.

Dr Rodney Horwad-Browne is in Kenya for the first time for a 3 day visit as part of his Africa tour which will take him to over nine countries in Africa.

11th September,2023 Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri joined the President H.E Dr.William Samoei Ruto at the launch of the Central Bank of Kenya, Central Securities Depository System (CBK DhowCSD) at the Central Bank of Kenya headquarters along Haile Selassie Avenue -Nairobi.

The CBK DhowCSD is a new central securities depository, that offers a simple, efficient and secure portal to enable the public to invest in Government security, in a convenient platform that can be accessed online via the DhowCSD portal or DhowCSD mobile App.

Said President Ruto "The development of the Central Securities Depository DhowCSD cements the Government’s Plan to eliminate barriers to trade. It offers a rare window of opportunity to millions of ordinary Kenyans to participate and meaningfully contribute to the building of our country.The electronic infrastructure will deepen the domestic capital market, promote savings and investments besides fostering the growth and stability of our financial markets."

The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries Njuguna Ndung’u and Moses Kuria, CBK Governor Dr. Kamau Thugge and PS National Treasury Chris Kiptoo.

2,500 Youth have officially commenced employment as environmental staff at Nairobi City County Govt. 1,000 more coming in shortly.

As we clear drainage and work to mitigate flooding, I have instructed Sub County Administration to clear all illegal structures on sewer and drainage installations. Also we implore the citizens to desist from illegal dumping.
