Earlier today President Ruto had a Phone call conversation with his predecessor in office, the 4th President, President Uhuru Kenyatta, regarding concerns about facilitating the functioning of the retired President’s office.

President Ruto has consequently constituted a team, led by the Head of Public Service, to immediately address all the issues raised, including the location of the retired President’s office and the attendant staff establishment.

Elsewhere, Members of Parliament have summoned State House representatives to explain why Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's office has been running without funding.

The Committee notes with concerns remarks by the Spokesperson to the Office of the 4th President Kanze Dena that indicated that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has been funding his own official office.

Although the specific dates have not been given on when State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito is to appear before Parliament, MPs want the State House representatives to appear before them to ensure the allocated funds are made available for the retired President.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's Spokesperson Kanze Dena has addressed the media. Here's the summary of the statement.

✅ Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta does not have any Government Vehicle.

✅ The Fuel Cards that are supposed to be used by Uhuru Kenyatta's office were cancelled by State House early 2023.

✅ Uhuru Kenyatta has not been given an office by the Government as the Government Spokesperson alleged.

✅ There is an issue of Withdrawal of Staffs of Uhuru Kenyatta via phone calls and intimidation from State House.

✅ Former President Uhuru Kenyatta runs his office, fuel his vehicles and pays his staff through his own pocket. There is no Government funding to the former president and his office.

✅ *The State House cannot substantiate where the Money meant for funding Former President Uhuru Kenyatta ends up.*

✅ We want to categorically distance ourselves from the budget that was tabled concerning Retired President's office. We were not consulted, we don't know where the budget was prepared from.

✅ Ruto's Government withdrew the drivers and bodyguards of Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

✅ The Staff of President Uhuru Kenyatta have not been on the Government payroll for the last two years.

This morning Cabinet Secretary - Ministry of Education, Hon. Dr. Ezekiel Machogu EGH commisioned the ICT Jitume lab at Siaya Institute of Technology. The Government takes pride in this institution that has been mentoring a number TVET institutions within the lake region. The platform has offered an opportunity for the youth to earn and they learn and as the Ministry of Education is indeed delighted with the progress.
