The Kenya School of Government team today concluded its engagement in Siaya County led by Dr. Rachel Ngesa and Ms. Pamela Nyaga, with Day 2 recording a high number of applications for various School programmes.

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the School conducted a tree planting exercise at Anduro Primary School involving Grades 8 and 9 learners to promote environmental conservation, cleanliness, and soil erosion prevention.

On the sidelines, Dr. Ngesa engaged public servants under 35 years in an impromptu “Under the Tree Series,” a KSG initiative that brings citizens and Government together to Listen, Engage and Act. She emphasized the importance of self-care, mental wellness, work-life balance, and building supportive environments, while encouraging open conversations on mental health and responsible use of social media.

Tuko Siaya County!

The KSG team today continued their county engagements with staff at the county offices in Siaya.

Director, IDS Dr. Rachel Ngesa, and Deputy Director Corporate Communications and Marketing Ms. Pamela Nyaga met up with CEC members and Chief Officers representing various departments to discuss areas of collaboration in building capacity of the employees.

‎Day 2 of the Kenya School of Government engagement with staff from Vihiga County concluded on a high note, with discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and enhancing capacity building within the County Government.

‎The Director, Institute for Devolution Studies, Dr. Rachel Ngesa, together with the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing, Ms. Pamela Nyaga, held engagements with County Executive Committee (CEC) Members and Chief Officers on key areas of partnership. The discussions also highlighted the “Under the Tree Series,” a Kenya School of Government initiative aimed at bringing citizens and Government together to Listen, Engage and Act.

‎As part of the visit, the team also participated in a tree-planting exercise at Chango High School in collaboration with the County Government. A total of 150 tree seedlings were donated to the school and received by the Principal, Mr. Anthony Odanga.

‎Dr. Rachel Ngesa further delivered a brief motivational talk to the Form Four students, encouraging them on the importance of self-care, mental wellness, and maintaining a positive outlook as they prepare for their examinations and future careers.

The Deputy Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing (CCM), Ms. Pamela Nyaga, accompanied by the Head of Section - Admissions, KSG Embu Campus, Mr. Anthony Kimaru, today paid a courtesy call on His Excellency the Governor of Vihiga County, Dr. Wilber Ottichilo. Discussions centered on flexible capacity-building models aimed at ensuring all staff access training opportunities to support career growth and professional development.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Director, Institute for Devolution Studies (IDS), Dr. Rachael Ngesa, accompanied by Ms. Phyllies Musyoki, Corporate Communications and Marketing Officer, paid a courtesy call on the CEO of Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Dr. Titus Mumia, and the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Collins Masika, to discuss staff capacity-building opportunities. Members of the Hospital Management Team were also in attendance.

The team will be in Vihiga County for two days hosting a participants’ information desk aimed at engaging county staff on the various training opportunities offered by the Kenya School of Government. The initiative is a collaboration between the Corporate Communications and Marketing Department and the Institute for Devolution Studies.

For the next five weeks the newly recruited associates at the Office of the Auditor-General will be at the Kenya School of Government for an Induction Programme.

Speaking on behalf of Auditor-General, Nancy Gathungu, FCPA Edwin Kamar stated that leadership begins today and participants should embrace the journey ahead with dedication and purpose.

KSG Director General, Prof. Nura Mohamed, Ph.D, EBS highlighted the 6 Cs of leadership as Confidence, Courage, Consistency, Control, Commitment and Conviction - the key pillars for personal growth and career progression.

Also present were, Isaac Kamau, Deputy Auditor-General Corporate Services, Stanley Mwangi and Justus Okumu of OAG.
