On 15-16 September, the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi, together with the Kenya School of Agriculture (KSA) and Green Africa Group (GAG), co-hosted the Thailand-Kenya Agri-tech Training 2026 at KSA’s Nyeri Campus to foster the skills and awareness of KSA instructors, students, and smallholder farmers regarding power tillers from Thailand whose functions suit the local context, with a view to increase productivity in local farmlands. This training also further enhances the ongoing development cooperation between both governments. The establishment of the Thailand-Kenya Agro-Technologies Learning Centre, hosted by KSA, in 2022 is, among others, one of the tangible outcomes in the commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the Thailand-Kenya diplomatic ties.
On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Jirusaya Birananda, Ambassador of Thailand to Kenya, paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Virginia Githumbi, Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), representing the County Commissioner, at Nyeri County Commissioner’s Office. During the training’s opening ceremony, H.E. the Ambassador of Thailand, delivered remarks to welcome the representatives of the Kenyan Government, Trainees and Friends of Thailand. Ambassador Jirusaya also emphasised the importance of this training in deepening existing diplomatic relations between both countries which will celebrate its 60ths anniversary of establishment in 2027 and referred to the cooperation rendered by KSA in hosting two batches of the Friend From Thailand (FFT) volunteers to exchange knowledge and good practices in agriculture, especially guided by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). The co-hosts were also honoured by the presence of the representatives of the Government of Kenya including (1) Mrs. Virginia Githumbi, Deputy County Commissioner of Nyeri County; and (2) Eng.
