In his remarks during the virtual AMCEN, High Commissioner Duke Lefhoko thanked the outgoing President of AMCEN and Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of South Africa, Madam Barbara Creecy, for the able and efficient manner in which she steered AMCEN deliberations since 2019. In the same breath H.E Lefhoko congratulated the the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Senegal, Hon. Abdou Karim Sall as the incoming President of AMCEN for the next biennial.
Hon. Sall will be joined by three vice presidents being Botswana, Sudan, DRC and Mauritania.

Ms. Philda Kereng, at the on-going 18th Session of African Ministerial Conference on Environment(AMCEN). During which Botswana was newly elected member to AMCEN Bureau as one of the Vice President.

H.E. Elias Mpedi Magosi is the new Executive Secretary of SADC whose tenure of office begins today, 1st September 2021. H. E Magosi is a national of the Republic of Botswana who was sworn in as the Seventh SADC Executive Secretary at the 41st SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Lilongwe, Republic of Malawi on 18th August 2021.

H.E. Magosi has sound understanding and coordination of the workings of governments, and effective linkages with political levels, private sector and academic institutions, including regional cooperation and coordination.

He has over 28 years of experience in large-scale performance and process improvement, strategic management, human resource management and change management in public, private and parastatal (quasi—government) sector organizations.

He has a strong background in restructuring, organizational redesign, planning and budgeting, and project management. He has very good skills in communication, facilitation, team development and management, strategic thinking, negotiation, advocacy and high-level advisory.

4X400 RELAY TEAM WINS GOLD

The men 4x400m relay team won gold at the on going world athletics under 20 championships in Nairobi, Kenya with record time of 3:05.22.

The team was made up of the following ,Busang Collen Kebinatshipi, Anthony Pesela, Oreeditse Masede and Phenyo Bongani Majama.

Congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Elias Mpedi Magosi for his endorsement as the SADC Executive Secretary - Designate.
