The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Hon, Peter Munya, MGH, today launched the distribution of non-BT Cotton Hybrid seed to cotton farmers. This is in line with the Cotton Revitalization Program aimed at enhancing cotton production and productivity in the country. The seed distribution project is a joint initiative of the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) and Mayco Kenya Private Limited.

Government releases 17 tons of Cotton seeds worth 32 Million to farmers in 8 Counties. While flagging off the Cotton seed consignment at the Ministry headquarters in Nairobi today, Anne Nyaga (Cabinet Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives) revealed that the seeds will be distributed in Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Homa Bay, Lamu, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River Counties. Beneficiaries will be identified by respective County governments and quantities allocated according to the demand by farmers in the respective counties.
