Speaking at the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) this morning at Serena, I insisted that the quality of service in mobile calls must improve as a guarantee for renewal of license. Safaricom, Airtel, Yu and Orange must invest in technology and give Kenyans quality telephony service. According to the study by CCK, none of these fits the required standards. Surely, Kenyans paying for calls cannot afford 'call drops' in the middle of doing business. I also noted that we are working with the industry players in the region to bring down the cost of telephone calls in East Africa moving forward. My ministry has also made recommendations to the county governments aimed at lowering the cost of fibre connectivity by removing tariffs at least for two years.
