Tropic Air Kenya Air charters and helicopter flights throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

With a spirit for fun and excitement, Tropic Air goes to all reaches to ensure that each flight, journey and adventure is a positive and unforgettable experience. For two decades air charters have been the mainstay of Tropic Air, providing private air links between exclusive tourism destinations throughout Kenya. Over the last 10 years we have pioneered wilderness and adventure helicopter safaris and excursions, exploring new lands, meeting remote tribal groups, and encountering Africa’s charismatic wildlife. In addition, Tropic Air is experienced in providing aerial support in a wide range of tasks throughout East Africa. Aerial filming is one of our biggest passions, working extensively with BBC, NatGeo and Disney in many of their Africa-based wildlife documentaries/films. Committed to the long-term conservation of wildlife and habitat, we support conservation related missions, often on pro-bono basis, including wildlife translocations, darting, collaring and anti-poaching.

We are incredibly grateful to every team, friend and individual who has stepped up and continued to support those working tirelessly on the ground since September 1st. The effort, commitment and generosity we have witnessed over these past few days has been remarkable.

Mount Kenya is one of the country’s most critical water towers, supporting an incredible diversity of wildlife, plant life and communities far beyond its slopes. Protecting her matters to us all.

Follow Mount Kenya Trust for regular updates on the status of the fires.

Dropping firefighters from Mount Kenya Trust directly onto fire lines in areas completely inaccessible by road.

After eight straight days of fighting to contain the fires, the teams are now carrying out the vital work of mopping up, carefully checking and extinguishing remaining hot spots to prevent any flare-ups and stop the fires from taking hold again due to how strong the winds have been lately.

Across such vast and difficult terrain like we have on this mountain, helicopters remain an invaluable tool, getting all teams where they need to be swiftly and safely.

Meet Namelok, a young elephant calf. She has had a difficult start to the week.

At just one or two months old, she fell into a well near Loisaba and was found the following morning by two Samburu herders, who quickly alerted the Loisaba Conservancy team.

Northern Kenya is extremely dry, and communities across the region rely on hand-dug wells to reach scarce water for themselves and their livestock. For young elephants, these wells can sadly become a serious hazard.

Loisaba Conservancy immediately began searching for Namelok’s herd, but with no clear signs of where they had gone, reuniting her safely became increasingly difficult. Introducing a calf to the wrong herd can also put her at considerable risk.

When those efforts were unsuccessful, Reteti Elephant Sanctuary called us to help. We provided one of our Cessna Grand Caravans to fly Namelok north to Reteti, accompanied throughout the journey by a Loisaba vet who closely monitored her vital signs and cared for her during the entire flight.

She is now receiving round-the-clock care from the Reteti team.

Milgis Airstrip is just 550 metres long, making it one of the shortest strips we fly into in Kenya.

Landing a Grand Caravan here takes plenty of precision. You need to touch down early, get the aircraft settled quickly and make sure you leave yourself enough runway to stop comfortably.

It is all part of the fun of flying into some of Kenya’s more remote places.

Hi everyone. A quick heads-up from us.

We’ve sadly had a number of fake accounts using our photos and videos to offer “flights”, quote made-up rates and ask people for payment.

Tropic Air Kenya does not publish any rates online as each trip is different and uniquely customised, and we will never ask you to send payment without an official invoice with a unique invoice number.

Our only Kenya social media handle is Tropic Air. If anything feels off, please check with us directly.

Koros Camp, Kenya has always been about more than just welcoming guests to northern Kenya.

As part of the South Horr community, we believe the people who call this place home should benefit directly from tourism. Our entire camp team comes from the surrounding area, local artisans create beautiful handmade pieces that provide an important source of income, and we continue to support the wildlife ranger unit with funding and facilities to help protect this remarkable landscape.

In a region where water is scarce, we’ve also drilled several boreholes that now provide clean, reliable water to the community. We also helped build a classroom on the shores of Lake Turkana after finding children attending lessons beneath a tree in the scorching heat, giving them a proper place to learn.

These are just a few of the projects we’re proud to be part of, with many more continuing behind the scenes as we work alongside the communities that make this place so special.
