A good morning starts with good care.

For Maisha and Nyota, the day begins with a nourishing bottle and plenty of gentle care before they head out to explore the sanctuary.

These morning routines are an important part of their journey — providing the nourishment they need while giving them the care and support to grow, learn and become more confident each day as part of their rewilding journey.

With full bellies and curious minds after their morning feed, Maisha, Nyota, Malaika and Asali head out to the sanctuary with their carers for a morning of grazing, exploring and discovering.

These outings always bring something new to experience, from fresh patches of grass to new sights, sounds and scents. This is all part of growing, learning and building confidence for the orphans.

Zawadi found the perfect mud spot, and Njamba wasn’t about to miss out.

The two young rhinos are enjoying one of nature’s best ways to cool off, rolling and relaxing.

At Solio Rhino Orphanage, moments like these are more than just fun. They’re part of giving our young orphans the space, care and natural experiences they need to grow, learn and thrive.

For Asali, growing up takes a little extra care.

Dedicated carer Josephine bottle feeding Asali as part of her daily routine, making sure she receives the care and nourishment she needs to thrive at the orphanage.

These moments of patience, compassion and commitment are more than just part of the day. They are part of the long-term journey for the orphans in our care towards rehabilitation and, ultimately, a future in the wild.

At Solio Rhino Orphanage, every orphan rhino in our care represents hope for the future of rhino conservation.

Seeing how Njamba has grown into a magnificent young rhino is a testament to the importance of giving orphaned rhinos the care, protection and support they need to recover, thrive and, ultimately, have the best possible chance of returning to the wild.

Mud bath? Absolutely.

For Zawadi, there’s no better way to beat the heat than getting covered in mud and enjoying a moment of pure rhino bliss.

Every wallow is more than just play, it’s a natural behaviour that helps him cool down, protect his skin, and simply be a rhino.
