The Director General KMA, CPA Omae Nyarandi, joined the Parliamentary Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, led by Hon. George Kariuki, during a tour of the Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA).
The visit provided an opportunity to inspect training facilities at the academy, including the state-of-the-art Full Bridge Mission Simulator, which offers cadets a highly advanced virtual environment for mastering navigation and ship handling. This technology plays a critical role in preparing a competent maritime workforce capable of operating modern vessels while upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and environmental stewardship.
KMA remains committed to supporting maritime education and training institutions to ensure the development of a highly skilled workforce that meets both national and international maritime standards.

The Director General Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), CPA Omae Nyarandi, today made a presentation during a high-level consultative retreat convened with the Parliamentary Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, highlighting KMA’s role in advancing Kenya’s Maritime agenda and the Authority’s current achievements and strategic priorities.

The retreat provided a platform for engagement between the State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, its Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs), and Members of Parliament, with discussions centered on strengthening the Maritime Sector through enhanced policy alignment and increased budgetary support.

The Kenya Maritime Authority today held a Validation Workshop for Regulatory Guidelines and Service Level Standards for Empty Container Depots (ECDs) at Bahari Towers.

The workshop brought together stakeholders from the maritime and logistics sector to review and validate the proposed guidelines and standards aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, safety, compliance, and service delivery in the management and operation of Empty Container Depots across the country.

The initiative is expected to strengthen regulation within the sector, improve operational performance, streamline container handling processes, and support the growth and competitiveness of Kenya’s maritime and logistics industry.
