The continued expansion of road network in Kisumu is expected to improve accessibility to the Airport and Industrial zone, reduce travel time for commuters and increase property value, besides boosting the general business environment for traders.

The Deputy Governor of Kisumu Dr Ochieng Owili chairing a meeting between the County government and Investors from Sunfarming GMBH company from Germany to establish a partnership between the two entities.
Sunfarming Company is a photovoltaic(PV) project development multinational company with its headquarters based in Gemany. In collaboration with Maseno University the company is interested to establish a 70 Million dollar photovoltaic plant in Kisumu which is set to generate solar power over 50MW that will boost power supply in the county and reduce the frequent power blackouts which discourage industrialisation and the Governor's plan to have a 24hour economy.
The company will also help the county government in sloving the perennial challenge of food insecurity by developing solar greenhouse constructions and modified free-field PV systems which will be used to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers.
Dr Ochieng Owili reiterated the county government's commitment to provide conducive environment for both foreign and local investors to do business and create employment opportunities for young people. The project is set to employ at least 2000 people during construction and 200 when it is completed up and running.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the Governor's advisor on Investment & Resource Mobilization Mr Victor Nyagaya the CEC for Education, ICT and Human Resorce Development Dr John Ogone and the CEC for Business, Energy and Industry Alice Moraa.
Maseno University was represented by the Vice Chancellor Prof Julius Nyabundi.

THE FIRST FISH PROCESSING PLANT IN WESTERN KENYA
Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Investors Company after weeks of negotiations to establish a multi billion modern FISH PROCESSING PLANT in Kisumu.
The company will process and export fish to the international market and also ensure enough consumption for the local market through cage farming in Lake Victoria. The company will also assist small scale fish farmers produce better quality and quantity by protecting their businesses and providing ready market for their produce.
The plant is expected to create job opportunities for over 500 residents of the Lakeside City of Kisumu.
The Governor was accompanied by his Advisor on Investment and Resource Mobilization Victor Nyagaya , the CEC forUrban Planning, Land & Housing Nerry Achar, and the City Manager Doris Ombara
