Guiding Strategic Direction for Inclusive Impact

Australia and Cambodia are working together to advance access to quality, inclusive services for people with disability and survivors of gender-based violence.

Recently, the Australian Embassy and the Royal Government of Cambodia co-chaired the third ACCESS 2 Steering Committee meeting, led by our Development Counsellor Ms Kirsty Harris and H.E. Met Makara, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.

The Committee helps to ensure ACCESS 2 delivers meaningful and sustainable results and that its program investments are aligned with Cambodia’s key national priorities, including the National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women and the National Disability Strategic Plan.

New study pathways connecting Cambodia and Australia

A new partnership between the University of Newcastle and the East Asia Management University (EAMU) will create 2+2 study pathways in business, hospitality and tourism management. Students will be able to begin their studies in Cambodia before continuing their studies in Australia.

Ambassador Derek Yip joined leaders from the University of Newcastle, EAMU and the Ambassador of Singapore, HE Steven Pang, at the signing ceremony to celebrate this new partnership and the growing education links between Australia and Cambodia.

Australia is proud to support partnerships that boost education outcomes in Cambodia and provide more opportunity and choice for Cambodian students.

🌱 Addressing transboundary challenges starts with impactful, transboundary partnerships.

Recently, MekongElevate: Ethnic Communities Leading Inclusive Climate Action hosted a Research Design Workshop in Phnom Penh, bringing together researchers and practitioners from 🇰🇭 🇱🇦 🇻🇳 and 🇦🇺 to exchange knowledge on climate-smart agriculture and inclusive research.

Led by the UTS Institute For Sustainable Futures and CARE Australia, the workshop combined Australian expertise, local knowledge and community perspectives to co-design research that will strengthen the climate resilience of ethnic communities in the Mekong region.

Through the , Australia looks forward to working with partners across the region to translate this research into action and support a more inclusive and resilient Mekong subregion.

The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) gives Cambodian students the opportunity to earn an internationally recognised Australian qualification here in Cambodia, preparing them for university and future careers.

The WACE qualification provides Cambodian students with more direct pathways to study at universities in Australia and beyond, while also helping to support improvements in education outcomes in Cambodia.

Ambassador Yip joined Cambodian and Australian education leaders, including representatives from the Western Australian School Curriculum and Standards Authority, SpringBoard4Education and local schools to celebrate the growing delivery of WACE in Cambodia.

Celebrating Teachers Across Cambodia and Australia

Australia supports Cambodian teachers to strengthen literacy, numeracy and learning outcomes for children.

Australia Awards alumna Kim Ann is putting the skills and knowledge she gained in Australia into practice through her work with SeeBeyondBorders. Since 2017, Australia has partnered with SeeBeyondBorders through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) to strengthen teaching and learning in Cambodian primary schools.

ជួបជាមួយលោកស្រី ខៀវ ភិរម្យ ដែលការស្រាវជ្រាវរបស់លោកស្រី ក្រោមចំណងជើងថា «ការកាត់បន្ថយភាពងាយរងគ្រោះ៖ ការកសាងភាពធន់នៅតំបន់ជនបទនៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជា តាមរយៈការអនុវត្តវិធីសាស្ត្រសុខភាពតែមួយ» សិក្សាអំពីវិធីសាស្ត្រដែលឆ្លើយតបទៅនឹងយេនឌ័រ ក្នុងការពង្រឹងភាពធន់នៅតំបន់ជនបទ ដោយរួមចំណែកផ្តល់ព័ត៌មានសម្រាប់ដំណោះស្រាយគោលនយោបាយដែលកាន់តែមានបរិយាបន្ន និងអាចពង្រីកការអនុវត្តបាន។

តាមរយៈការស្រាវជ្រាវដូចនេះ អ្នកស្រាវជ្រាវស្ត្រីកំពុងរួមចំណែកស្វែងរកដំណោះស្រាយចំពោះបញ្ហាប្រឈមនៃការអភិវឌ្ឍនៅកម្ពុជា និងជួយកសាងសហគមន៍ឱ្យកាន់តែមានភាពធន់។
