Study and Evaluation of the Contract Manufacturing Model in the manufacturing of Precision Sensors used in Robotics and Medical Equipment as a Key Pathway for Industrial Upgrading

24 February 2026 – H.E. Chea Kok Hong, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Policy, led a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance on a site visit and held discussions with representatives of Minebea. The purpose of the visit was to study and evaluate the Contract Manufacturing model for precision sensors used in robotics and medical equipment, with a view to formulating policy support measures and strengthening skills development to advance supply chain upgrading and attract industrial relocation projects.

Koh Kong Attracts $4 Million Investment for Plywood Factory

Koh Kong – Srae Ambel District in Koh Kong Province has secured a USD 4 million investment to establish a plywood production factory within the Koh Kong Special Economic Zone – Cheung.

The new factory is expected to generate 196 job opportunities for local residents, providing both direct employment and supporting the wider community through related services and supply chains. Authorities and community leaders have welcomed the project, noting its potential to strengthen the district’s industrial base, attract further investment, and contribute to sustainable economic growth in the province.

The project aligns with Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to expand industrial development in special economic zones, promote local employment, and boost regional economic integration.

Tourism, known as Cambodia’s “green gold”, is becoming a major attraction in the coastal region. With a total coastline of 526 km and 71 islands, Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot and Kep together form Cambodia’s coastal tourism identity, which is receiving a noticeable increase in both domestic and international tourists and investors.

Cambodia’s four coastal provinces have distinct tourism development directions shaped by their natural assets, services, and unique regional characteristics: Preah Sihanouk focuses on island and entertainment tourism, Koh Kong on eco-tourism, Kampot on cultural tourism, and Kep on high-end tourism.

In line with the 15-year vision of the Cambodia Coastal Master Plan, Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot and Kep, are transforming into national development hubs and new growth centers capable of attracting major investors, driven by key priority sectors such as tourism, agro-processing, manufacturing, and green energy. Supported by natural resources, strategic locations and investment incentive policies, these sectors hold strong potential to expand employment, investment, exports and creating new competitiveness for the national economy.

His Excellency Chea Kok Hong participated as a speaker in the “3rd Cambodia-UK Joint Investment and Trade Forum” with the aim of promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and strengthening trade and investment.

On January 29, 2026, His Excellency Chea Kok Hong participated as a speaker at the 3rd Cambodia-UK Joint Investment and Trade Forum, chaired by Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce. The forum was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, honorary speakers, and many investors, with the aim of promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and strengthening bilateral trade and investment between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the United Kingdom.

On this occasion, His Excellency Chea Kok Hong shared the policy direction of the Royal Government and investment opportunities in priority sectors such as electric vehicles, agro-industry, transportation and logistics, as well as relevant policies of the Royal Government.

នាវាទេសចរណ៍នេះ មាននាវិកសរុបចំនួន ៤០៩ នាក់ មាន ៤១ សញ្ជាតិ។ និងមានភ្ញៀវទេសចរសរុបចំនួន ៥៣៨ នាក់មាន ២៩ សញ្ជាតិ។ ចំនួនសញ្ជាតិដែលមានភ្ញៀវច្រើនជាងគេ គឺសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក (២៥៩) និងអង់គ្លេស (១២៨)។

Kep is the smallest of Cambodia’s four coastal provinces, yet it has strong tourism potential driven by its natural resources, coastline, island areas, and green environment, which play an important role in attracting visitors. Key tourist destinations include Kep National Park, located in the heart of Kep town and rich in biodiversity, popular for hiking, walking trails, and sunset viewing; Angkol Beach, a seaside destination offering camping areas, numerous scenic photo spots, and night-time shrimp and squid fishing; Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island), an attractive resort island featuring new tourism activities such as snorkeling and other sea-based recreational activities; and the Crab Market, renowned for fresh seafood, particularly crab and other local specialties.
