🇨🇦 This week, we visited សង់ត្រាល់ - CENTRAL in Banteay Meanchey province and met with their Safe Migration Ambassadors (SMAs) — dedicated community leaders playing a vital role in raising awareness, supporting vulnerable migrants, and promoting safer migration pathways. Earlier this year, the Embassy of Canada was proud to partner with សង់ត្រាល់ - CENTRAL to provide humanitarian assistance to 300 displaced and returned migrant families affected by the border conflict.

🇨🇦 Ambassador DesRoches was pleased to welcome Ms. Marilyne Picard, Member of the National Assembly of Québec, who visited Cambodia to participate in a meeting of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) in Siem Reap, alongside Francophone parliamentarians from five continents. This visit contributes to the ongoing preparations for the Francophonie Summit to be held in Cambodia in November, and underscores the importance placed on parliamentary dialogue and Francophone cooperation. 🌏

Respect for the vital role of political opposition, civil society, and a free press is essential to democratic governance.

Both sides welcomed the growing momentum in Canada–Cambodia relations and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade and investment ties. Canada looks forward to working closely with Cambodia to build on this positive trajectory in the run-up to the Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh.
