The Department of Statistics and Tourism Information is an expert organization under the supervision of the General Directorate of Tourism. This department has its major role, as an assistant to the Ministry of Tourism, in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and publishing the tourism statistics nationwide and worldwide. This department also has its key role in organizing tourist information effecti
vely for the benefit of the tourism field of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the tourism database for managing the documents. Duties:
The Department of Statistics and Tourism Information has its duties as follows:
• To research methodologies and organize standards and norms for tourism statistics aimed at ensuring the effectiveness, quality, and sustainability of its publication.
• To collect, compile, and publish tourism statistics and all the relevant tourism information.
• To research, analyze, and forecasting the tourism statistics.
• Tourism survey annually and employment on tourism sector.
• To cooperate with ministries, institutions, organizations, concerned authorities, and national and international organizations in collecting and compiling the data and all the relevant information to ensure the effectiveness of tourism statistics and national norms.
• To study and shape the policy on the development of information communication technology (ICT) aimed at enforcing the e-Government.
• To manage and maintain the official website to promote reports on tourism statistics, tourism potential, and other activities of the Ministry of Tourism.
• To enforce Information Communication Technology “ICT” for tourism, relevant to the management of the computer network, the development of computer programs, the analysis / interpretation of the data, and the input and verification of the data.
• To study and establish a security system aimed at maintaining the e-data, e-information, the website and e-mail.
• To manage tourist information centers in an effective, quality, sustainable and responsible way.
• To cooperate with the Department of Planning Development in the provision of the statistical data and tourist information, aimed at forming developmental plans for tourism.
• Furthermore, to cooperate with the Department of Education and Training and concerned departments in organizing training courses for expert officials in statistics and in encouraging the use of information technology at municipal and provincial levels.
