The Photo Identification of marine mammals can be used alongside other data to:

- Estimate the abundance of the marine mammals in the research area
- Biological data can be used to investigate their age, health, rates of reproduction, the healing rates of wounds, s*x, and groups.
-​It is easier to examine the change in dolphin interactions over time.
- Raising awareness of Cambodia's ocean biodiversity and potentially regulating ecotourism
