Interconnected Cambodia

🌳The flooded forests surrounding Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake, which includes Barringtonia acutangula (commonly referred to as “freshwater mangroves”), are breeding grounds for many endemic fish species, and also a habitat for terrestrial wildlife, including rare and endangered birds.

Unfortunately the majority of the Tonle Sap’s flooded forests have been cleared. This is a trend seen throughout Cambodia, which over the past decade has been one of the world’s most deforested countries.

Interconnected Cambodia is a program of Unbounded World, an initiative whose core mission is an integrated approach to environmental and cultural preservation.
