🌳The flooded forests surrounding Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake, which includes Barringtonia acutangula (commonly referred to as β€œfreshwater mangroves”), are breeding grounds for many endemic fish species, and also a habitat for terrestrial wildlife, including rare and endangered birds.

Unfortunately the majority of the Tonle Sap’s flooded forests have been cleared. This is a trend seen throughout Cambodia, which over the past decade has been one of the world’s most deforested countries.
