TAK’s clean up for World Ocean Day
Tourism Authority of Kiribati team on Kiritimati Island organized a cleanup event with a group of young volunteers at Tabon Te Kee in Ronton village on Monday, June 8, 2026, in marking the World Ocean Day.
Tabon Te Kee is one of the most popular locations on Kiritimati Island for both locals and tourists alike. Known as the main picnic spot for families and a favorite swimming area for youths and children every Sunday. Besides its picturesque beach, Tabon Te Kee is the main boat launch point in Ronton for fly-fishermen and birdwatchers.
Keeping Tabon Te Kee waste-free contributes to a clean, healthy ocean and its resources, on which our livelihoods heavily depend. Maintaining its natural pristine beach and environment ensures that future generations will be able to experience and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Tabon Te Kee.
The Tourism Authority of Kiribati acknowledges the support of the young volunteers who continue to participate in its clean-up programs and encourage others to join its future activities.
