The recycling of scrap metal component of Phase 3 of New Zealand’s Solid Waste Management Programme is now complete! Thank you to Macaulay Metals and the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Agriculture Development team for all your hard work! Together, we have achieved significant progress in clearing existing scrap waste, as well as establishing and strengthening national scrap metal recovery and processing systems. The partnership has laid a strong foundation for ongoing operational success, and we are excited to see Kiribati continue to run the scrap metal operations under its own momentum. This week we were pleased to hand over project vehicles, equipment and machinery to support the continued operation of the national scrap collection, processing and export programme.

is pleased to share the Kiribati Fresh Produce Pathway Factsheet developed in collaboration with the Kiribati Ministry of Environment, Lands and Agriculture Development (MELAD) and the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji - BAF.
This factsheet outlines results from air freight trials for fresh fruit and vegetables moving from Fiji to Kiribati. The trials show how following biosecurity rules and using proper packaging can keep the produce fresh and profitable, making for a reliable fresh produce pathway between the two countries.
This work helps build a reliable trade link that supports everyone - from local farmers and exporters in Fiji reaching new markets, to the retailers and customers in Kiribati with improved access to fresh, nutritious food.
By working together and sharing technical advice, MELAD and BAF are making it easier for fresh produce to move safely across the Pacific.
You can read the full factsheet and learn more about the pathway here:https://phamaplus.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kiribati_Fresh_Produce_Pathway_Factsheet-Final.pdf
