Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff of Halliday-Smith Primary School, right here in the Central Basseterre constituency, on hosting a wonderful Sports Day 2026.
Events like these bring our young people together in the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and friendly competition while strengthening the bond between school and community.
I commend the organisers, supporters, and the entire school community for making the day such a success and for continuing to inspire excellence among our young athletes.

I was pleased to join fellow Caribbean leaders at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Council of Ministers Meeting in Bermuda, where we engaged in important discussions focused on strengthening regional collaboration, expanding intra-Caribbean travel, and building a more resilient tourism sector for the future.
Tourism remains a vital pillar of our economy, and St. Kitts and Nevis continues to work alongside our Caribbean partners to ensure sustainable growth and opportunity across the region.
Together, we move Caribbean tourism forward.

'Enduring Harmony': A Symbol of Resilience in McKnight

On the steps of Durant Avenue in Central Basseterre, a stunning mural painting of a leatherback seaturtle is taking shape, and it's more than just a beautiful work of art. Enduring Harmony, as we have named her, represents the strength, endurance, and resilient spirit of the people of McKnight.

The leatherback sea turtle is an endangered species that finds a safe haven to nest on our protected shores. This majestic creature also embodies the qualities that define our community: wisdom, ancient knowledge, and the ability to persevere through challenging times. The leatherback seaturtle's hard shell symbolizes protection and security, providing a safe haven for those who need it. So too, do the people of McKnight find comfort, support and safety in Community.

As we gaze upon Enduring Harmony, we are reminded of the importance of transformation, rebirth, and adaptability. We're encouraged to embrace personal growth, evolve, and find harmony and balance within ourselves, with each other and with our environment.

The leatherback sea turtle is also a symbol of good luck, fortune, and longevity, and its presence is sure to bring positivity and inspiration to our community. Let's celebrate this incredible work of art and the values it represents!

Join the Movement and let's continue to build a stronger, more resilient McKnight, where everyone can thrive and feel proud to call home.

Looking forward with great anticipation to seeing 'Majesty' the Brown Pelican being captured at the Thibou Avenue steps very soon as well! The Pelican represents the enterprising spirit, national pride and prosperous future of the people of the McKnight community.

May both 'spirit animals' watch over us and invoke the atmosphere of peace, love and harmony to brighten our days!
