EXERCISE! EXERCISE! EXERCISE!
Charlestown, Nevis — The Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD), in collaboration with Widener University, Utah Valley University, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Health, the St. Kitts-Nevis Red Cross Society, and other response partners, will conduct a multi-agency fire emergency simulation exercise (drill) entitled:
“Caught by Surprise: Fire Outbreak During Camp Siesta”
📅 May 21, 2026
🕑 2:00 PM
📍 Fort Charles, Nevis
The exercise forms part of an international study-abroad program focused on disaster preparedness, applied emergency management, and community resilience.
PLEASE NOTE: This is ONLY a planned emergency simulation exercise. It is NOT a real emergency.
The simulation will test coordinated emergency response operations involving:
• Evacuation and fire response coordination
• First aid, CPR, and casualty management
• Inter-agency communication
• Missing person accountability and psychosocial support
• Public information management during crisis situations
Participating agencies will include Fire and Rescue Services, Emergency Medical Services, the Ministry of Health, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, NEMA, the St. Kitts-Nevis Red Cross Society, Alexandra Hospital, students, volunteers, and other supporting partners.
Members of the public are advised that emergency vehicle movements, simulated casualty activities, and response operations in the Fort Charles area during the exercise period are part of a planned simulation drill and should not cause alarm.
This initiative supports ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, public safety, and community resilience throughout St. Kitts and Nevis.
