Electricity supply regularly fails to keep up with demand, in Cameroon it is typically to have at least 5 power cuts a month, with each one lasting on average at least 8 hours.
Hospitals rely on electricity to power everything from water supply & lighting to all their equipment. Many rural hospitals/ health centers suffer from the following;
- Sudden blackouts can damage delicate medical machinery or disrupt a patient procedure/ operation.
- Unreliable electricity can also lead to spoiling of medicines and inability to use medical devices.
- The blackouts disrupt day-to-day operations, reducing the efficiency & quality of care in an already underfunded & stretch medical service.
It is for hospitals & health centers like these we are raising funds for to provide reliable & renewable energy for!
