Moving the world toward a sustainable future

Humanity has reached an era in which its decisions and actions threaten the stability of the entire earth. Development that meets our own needs must not compromise the ability of future generations to respond to their needs. Sustainable development is, therefore, a common agenda for humanity. The United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), spearheaded by then Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, are the global community's response to these challenges. To achieve the target goals by the year 2030, expert involvement in every field, including universities, is crucial. To participate in the global efforts toward the SDGs, Yonsei University founded the Institute for Global Engagement and Empowerment (IGEE). Ban Ki-moon decided to lead IGEE to continue and broaden his legacy at the UN.
